Anxiety during pregnancy and early parenthood is more common than many people realise but it’s often hidden behind a brave face.
It can show up as constant worry, racing thoughts, feeling on edge, or a sense that something isn’t quite right. For some, it’s a quiet hum in the background. For others, it can feel overwhelming and all-consuming.
The truth is, anxiety doesn’t make you a bad mum. It doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human and that you may need support.
At Mothers Matter, we want you to know that you don’t have to carry this alone. You are allowed to feel how you feel. You are allowed to ask for help. And you are allowed to take things one step at a time.
Today, be gentle with yourself.
Take a breath.
Lower the pressure where you can.
You are doing better than you think.
And we are here, walking alongside you every step of the way.

Maternal Mental Health Week: You Are Not Alone
Today marks the beginning of Maternal Mental Health Week. A time to shine a light on the experiences so many mothers go through, often silently.
Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming, exhausting, and at times, incredibly lonely. Behind the smiles and milestones, many mums are navigating anxiety, guilt, burnout, and feelings they don’t always feel able to share.
At Mothers Matter, we know that maternal mental health is not one-size-fits-all. Every story is different. Every feeling is valid. And every mother deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.
Over the coming days, we will be focusing on the real topics that many struggle with during the perinatal period, creating space for open, honest conversations. Our aim is simple: to break stigma, raise awareness, and remind every mother that she is not alone.
If this week resonates with you, we invite you to follow along, reflect, and reach out if you need to. Whether you are in the thick of it or supporting someone who is, your experience matters.
You are doing better than you think.
And we are here, walking alongside you every step of the way.
