I'm a certified nutrition coach, specialist fitness trainer, behaviour change specialist, life-coach and NLP practitioner. My back ground is in health around fitness and nutrition goals but I knew that surface level behaviour change wasn't enough for most people who struggled to turn up with other done for you plans they've tried in the past. I know that surface level behaviour change can feel tough and leave us feeling like a failure and full of guilt when we don't turn up to do the things on the list!! Our behaviours are often dictated by our STATE of mind in the moment. THOUGHT creates feelings which shape our beliefs and that dictates our behaviours (think of the difference in how we respond/react on a day that feels RUBBISH compared to a day where we feel full of the joys of Spring). My aim this year is to run even more FREE value calls in the Health Seekers Lounge to help you focus on habits that ACTUALLY matter, saving you a bunch of time, emotion and energy with things that feel like a constant, up hill battle!

I want to make sure that I give you what you want AND need to feel re-connected to WHO you are, what you want and living that confident, joyful, passionate, purpose driven live!

I’m feeling a little under the weather today. There’s a lot of bugs going around just now so today I’m taking it easy.

That means just doing my BAMS!

Bare Assed Minimum’s!

For me, that looks like

1- following through on my commitment to serve you here each day

2- doing just one thing for my health - for me that means a bottle of water.

For any goal, it’s okay to take a step back when you need to and just do 1% more than zero.

Healthy choices can simply be drinking enough water, moving more than you sit, eating some fruit/veg/protein.

Business choices could mean sending just one email.

Recovery choices could mean simply taking a seat and having a cuppa.

We don’t have to do it all.

They’re all positive and helpful choices. Now.

Some days we will be able to do more.

Some days less.

But if we have to “dig deep” to find the willpower or motivation for some of the simple, foundational stuff, then it’s already too complicated.

Keep it simple and, instead of asking yourself “what can I do on my best days”. Ask yourself “what can I still do on my worst” 💕

As I was cleaning the kitchen yesterday, again, I caught myself thinking “I already did this yesterday”! 

Once again, a pile of dishes (which I didn’t put there - expectation, the fairies will do it), a spill on the table. You get the picture!
 
But, you KNOW you have to keep turning up to do it.   

It’s never a one and done thing.   And, once the kitchen is clean, you notice the living room needs a spruce.  Then the bathroom needs a bit of elbow grease too. 

It FEELS LIKE it’s never ending!  

But you know if you don’t keep turning up what the consequence will be.  So you keep doing it.

Our habits/behaviours, health, personal growth is just the same.

It’s never a one and done thing.   

And yet, it’s where I see so many people struggle.

OR

They tell themselves “I’ll be happy when I’m done” ..

Which causes a huge amount of disappointment, feelings of failure/not good enough, those stories of ‘I just need more willpower’.

Like our housework, our LIFE habits are never one and done.

AND, equally, there are several layers too.

A bit like a home, our personal growth/health/fitness/business goals/LIFE habits, all have more than just one ‘room’ that needs attention.

Don’t stop turning up for YOU!

Once over, the thought of not achieving 100% would leave me feeling like a failure.

So I’d either give it my all (then feel like a failure if I missed target) or I’d quit (feeling guilty and get stuck in the SOD IT)!

I remember my mentor saying to me “being a perfectionist can sometimes slow you down or STOP you. Trying to always be perfect isn’t always the best thing”.

I thought about it though and realised she was right!

How many time have you started a new diet, for example, then come Friday, you ‘treat yourself’ to a piece of cake but THEN thought “ohhhh that’s it, I’ve ruined it now - may as well give up today because I’ve ruined it now”.

Then the next day you say “Oh well actually, I may as well finish the whole thing ‘cause I already ruined this week so I’ll start again on (magic) Monday”?

The Guilt kicked in. And you got stuck in the “SOD IT”!

Or, how often do you put off doing something until it’s a perfect way to start?

I did all of that (watch the video to find out more on that)!

Perfection is just an illusion.

By constantly trying to be, we just end up snappy and anxious and stressed. I often felt that way and constantly felt like I was ‘spinning plates’.

Imperfect ACTION beats perfect IN-ACTION every single time.

That comment changed my thought on everything from then!

You don’t HAVE to be perfect to start.

You don’t HAVE to be perfect to reach your goal.

You just have to start.
Today.
Right now!
What’s stopping you?

To make progress, you just need to turn up and be a little bit better today than you were yesterday. Consistently.

That’s it!

It’s not magic! There’s no magic pill.

Just take a step - then repeat.

what if things DO go belly up?

When I started my business, the name I chose was “Fitness & Nutrition Solutions”.

I saw so many people struggle to stick with fitness regimes, diet plans and SUSTAINABLE habits, so I set up my business from all of the questions I was asked.

What I noticed was, the number one reason they HAD struggled to make habits stick was because it felt too hard.

The ‘habits’ just didn’t fit who they were.
Their Identity.
Their lifestyle.
Their likes.
Their genetics.
Their start point. And more!

It WAS easy for me because it fit everything of who I was. It was my identity.

So I set about making things much easier for others too sharing my “tool box” of skills.

Now, although I still help people with their fitness/nutrition habits too, I ACTUALLY help them with LIFE HABITS.

Sticking with habit change in ALL areas of their life by simplifying them to fit who THEY ARE and REALLY want to be.

But now, the business name “Fitness and Nutrition Solutions” alone makes no sense. It doesn’t speak to that.

It’s ‘kinda’ belly up, but it isn’t.

But It’s where it grew from.

The Acorn, if you like, that grew to a great Oak.

With MANY ‘belly up’ moments along the way. 

But NONE were failures. Non made me want to quit and start over.

ALL were learnings. All, including the name of my business, gave me a new point to move forward from.

It’s all part of the journey.

It all added to the growth.

We are STILL “Fitness and Nutrition Solutions”. But now, you probably hear MORE about Reset, Reignite and Elevate.

THAT has been the BIGGEST turning point yet and is the CORE of everything we do here. And THAT’S a story for another day.

Remember, it’s ok to change things.   
To move goal posts.  
To start again from a new place.  

It’s not failure or starting again from scratch.
It’s starting or moving forward from a NEW place of experience.
It allows you to STOP wasting time on what doesn’t matter, to free up space and energy and achieve MORE by doing LESS!

The core of my business was health, fitness, nutrition and (predominantly) people came to me for weight loss.

I lived by what I said on my tin .. (see photo)

It was SUPER easy for me because it was who I was. How I lived.

But suddenly my WHOLE world turned upside down.

My own “core” being no longer served me as it had. It didn’t feel so easy.

WHY?

Because we had 2 family bereavements, I had (part) empty nest syndrome, my husband and I split after 26 years (I didn’t see it coming) and all in the space of 2 weeks. To top that, I’d been suffering with anxiety and depression and some days felt enough to just get THROUGH them, never mind stick to habits!

Did I want to train and prepare that delicious food? HECK NO!!!!

I hit the “SOD IT” BIG time!!

But then I realised -
I could beat myself up for no longer doing those things or I could simplify it. And do something different.

I could do ONE THING. I could work on me from a different angle, beyond just “daily Actions”.

Heck, it’s the daily action steps most people struggle to stick with - simply because they don’t fit who they ARE!

So, I started a NEW journey in finding out who I was NOW!

I was no longer wife or needed as a mum in the same way, no longer pre or peri meno - so who was I NOW?

And more importantly, who did I want to become?

I used the tools I use with clients to reconnect to me. My Identity. My Values (some were VERY different now & I hadn’t realised that change).

When I did THAT, EVERYTHING changed!

And Now - WOW!

I discovered ANYTHING is possible when ONE THING changes.

It’s not the Action plan. The deliberate planned out steps - yes, they’re important. But they have to fit who YOU ARE.

If you’ve been here a while, you know that last Christmas was a Year of massive adjustment (the first Christmas after Separation and other family loss).  

Even though this past year still has continued to have adjustments, I kept sending emails, sharing stories (from clients and myself) and helping as many people I could in the very best way I  could.

Some of those stories have been full of laughter, tears, mishaps, crazy ‘expectation vs reality photos’ and so much more.   

From the most AMAZING client support, fun and groups, there’s been massive growth in everyone (from health and fitness, to relationship improvements to business growth to self belief to better sleep and recovery to reduced stress to massive lightbulbs). 

We are all human.   We all have ups and downs.   But, here, we have each other.

Now, 365 days on from feeling anxious about ‘first Christmas ..’, today I sat and ate Rudolph pancakes which my daughter, Sydney, made - see photo.  
(The idea, by the way, came from one of the lovely ladies in the membership (Karen - I  thank you for your share)!

New memories of how it can be are being created.  

Plus, I didn’t have to cook or clean!

As we begin to get ready for Christmas (I’m a bit of a last minute Nellie), the tree 🎄 is up, the baileys is out and the Christmas films have started! 

We settled down to watch a past favourite the other night (Elf), and it reminded me of something that’s so often easily forgotten.   (If you’ve not seen it, go and snuggle in and watch it).

When Christmas came, Santas sledge stopped working.   The only thing to help him achieve his goal (of delivering those presents) was to get his sleigh working again through the magic of BELIEF.

Because people had stopped believing, they stopped turning up in the same way.  So it crashed.  It couldn’t get going again.  It just stopped working.

BUT Elf believed.   And he showed others how to believe.  And how they could pass that belief on.    With community.

It reminded me of the POWER of BELIEF in ourselves and the MASSIVE POWER of community.

So, today, I invite you to go grab your eggnog, have a nice snuggle up on the couch and watch it (or if you’ve seen it, tell me did you spot this big takeaway too)?
