OFF GRID LIGHTING
So one of the most common questions I get from clients seems to be what do we do for lighting at home π I do actually love that you guys are interested in off gridding and the lifestyle we chose.
Rechargeable light bulbs have been an absolute game changer at Pockleaf. Prior to these, we were solely on oil lamps and candles, which we do still use, (ever so romantic) but the bulbs are far more convenient, safer and considerably less smelly! I do still prefer to read by candlelight, we try to live supporting our circadian rhythm, avoiding artificial light after dark, particularly close to bed time.
I pick up lamps from charity and vintage shops, cut the plug off and pop a bulb in - naturally I'd rehomed the majority of our electrical appliances prior to the move.
The bulbs charge in the car, when I get to the shop or on the generator when that is running to do laundry.
We do also run led lights in the kitchen directly from a leisure battery which I'll do another post on at some point, makes chopping veggies far easier than by oil lamp i can tell you π€£
