The Massage Shala is inspired by the informal massage rooms of South East Asia. They enjoy working in a shared space as it creates a safe and open atmosphere, welcoming all and providing a container that establishes community, connection, and healing.

We will be hosting a Massage Shala on Sunday 4th December at Centre 151 on Whiston Road. We hope that you can come and join us. A 60-minute massage with an experienced massage practitioner costs £40. (See attached file for Therapist bios). To book, please email: therapies@centre151.com

MASSAGE SHALA THERAPIST BIOS

EVE KHAMBATTA: Thai Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Chi Nei Tsang

Eve Khambatta is a seasoned therapeutic therapist of over 11 years experience. From a background in dance, martial arts & yoga, she creates her unique blend of massage therapy with a firm, nurturing, intuitive touch.

I endeavour to relax, energise & restore clients to their optimal health and well being holistically, through therapeutic bodywork, improved nutritional and fitness advice, personal development & lifestyle choices. My area of specialisation is pre & post natal massage and my area of expertise is Thai Yoga massage.

Eve offers Thai Yoga, Thai foot, Acupressure, Chi Nei Tsang (Abdominal Massage), Wellmother Pregnancy Massage & is a trainee Birthing Doula

EVA BANIK: Myofascial Release and Structural Integration

Eva is a qualified soft tissue therapist with a background in dance and yoga and somatics. She is passionate about helping clients find awareness of their body to move effortlessly, breath easily, and to have a pain and injury free life. Her work has been inspired by Rolfing structural integration, zero balancing and somatic exercises to ease and reset the connective tissue in the body, extend range of movement and give a sense of alignment and integration. Her sessions gently encourage releases of tension and trauma in the body.

As well as being a qualified sports massage therapist, Eva is also a vinyasa flow yoga teacher and has studied thai massage, myofascial release, structural integration and zero balancing.

This session takes place on a massage table fully clothed. Please wear loose fitting clothing for the session.

JEAN-PHILIPPE GUICHARD: Shiatsu

I came to Shiatsu through an interest in oriental health practices and energy work which started at the Shaolin Temple in London. My two great passions as a holistic therapist, Shiatsu and Health Qigong are ways of experiencing life consciously and to radiate this from within.

I provide treatments, guidance and advice geared towards stimulating your vital strength and health. I will not heal you or bring you to a higher level of consciousness. You already have these powers within yourself. I am giving you support when you need it.

This treatment is an advanced and specialised massage which uses several different techniques, and is focused exclusively on the abdomen and lower back/sacrum. This therapy is gentle, but still a deep, massage which is designed to help improve the circulation to the abdomen and in turn aiding blood flow and reducing internal ligament/muscle tension.

ROB PEIRCE: Thai Massage

Robert’s treatments are a unique and contemporary blend of eastern and western massage and esoteric knowledge that incorporate Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage, Osteopathic technique and Andean Shamanism.

Robert is an experienced, authentic, intuitive and empathic therapist who began practising massage in 2001. His dedication to the study of mysticism and the healing arts has taken him on a worldwide journey, and he’s worked with everyone from Hollywood stars to homeless people.

JO LIM: Thai Massage and Osteopathy

Jo is a highly intuitive practitioner whose osteopathic background provides her with a technical anatomy-based approach to treatment. Jo has experience treating a wide range of conditions, such as chronic and acute back pain, shoulder dysfunction, disc injuries, headache; and has a special focus on gut related issues including digestion problems, issues with the menstrual cycle and treating during, pre- and post-pregnancy.

Jo qualified in 2016 from the British School of Osteopathic Medicine after practicing as a Thai Massage Therapist for over 10 years. After graduating, she taught visceral osteopathy at BCOM. Jo also practices Thai Massage, Chi Nei Tsang, Shiatsu and Craniosacral therapy.

We begin the next block of 6 weeks of our Community Clinic this Friday and welcome Stuart Thomas into the Massage Shala.

We are excited to welcome STUART THOMAS into the next Massage Shala starting Friday 9th July for 6 weeks. He will be practicing Tui Na.

Biography. Stuart has been inspired by and explored how Martial Arts and dance integrate for over 20 years. He is a teacher of Contemporary Dance as well as second generation Soul Jazz and his teaching follows the road of 'old school' to progressive styles, creating his own unique style of Martial Dance Fusion.

In his twenties he embarked upon a journey to train in Tai Chi, which culminated in his earning a rank of Group A Instructor from the Canton Martial Committee. He often travels between London and South China to enhance his knowledge of the technique. Stuart is now also a highly sought after instructor of Dance and Tai Chi fist – two of the most practiced Martial Arts and Dance forms and is a specialist in Graham-based technique.

“I travel to China every year to study tui na massage. I stay in Hangzhou. My favourite thing is waking up at dawn and heading to the park where all the older people do tai chi. There's a feeling everybody's healing themselves; it's amazing. Afterwards, I'll go to a cafe and buy this omelette-type delicacy filled with sweet syrup. Oh man, it's good.”
