Support Needed for Workshops and Treatments for Myanmar Refugees in Mae Sot, Thailand.
I hope this post finds you well. I am reaching out to share an important initiative and to ask for your support in making it a reality.
*The Project*
From January 17–22, 2024, a collaboration between Yay Gyi Yar NGO and Gabriela Sofia Flores with the support of Clara Reichertz and Paul Brumwell will bring emotional and body-awareness workshops, as well as therapeutic treatments, to 30 Burmese Refugees in Mae Sot, Thailand.
These refugees from Myanmar or NGO workers, have been deeply affected by political turmoil and displacement in Myanmar.
The workshops will offer a nurturing space for participants to explore their emotions, voices, and body awareness through creative expression, guided movement, and reflective practices. The sessions will aim to empower participants by fostering emotional resilience, self-awareness, and a sense of community.
Additionally, 5 days of therapeutic massage & bodywork treatments will be provided to bring a wealth of knowledge and compassion to their practice. These will include Thai Massage, Chi Nei Tsang, Craniosacral, Bonework and Scarwork.
*Why This Matters*
Refugees in Mae Sot, Thailand face immense challenges, including uncertainty of status, the threat of arrest, and struggles to meet daily needs. Providing a safe space for emotional expression and body-based practices helps to nurture resilience and stability, enabling participants to better cope with their circumstances.
*The Need for Support*
To make this initiative possible, we are seeking to raise $2,200.20 USD, which will cover:
- Workshop materials and venue costs
- Transportation, food, and lodging for facilitators and participants
- Refreshments to create a warm, welcoming environment
Once you’ve made a donation, please update us with the amount and country of origin. If you prefer to remain anonymous, it is not a problem.
We understand that trust and transparency are vital, especially for projects like this. We chose this direct method of funding to avoid fees and ensure the donations are used efficiently.
*A Heartfelt Thanks*
On behalf of Yay Gyi Yar, myself, and the participants, I want to thank you for considering this cause. Your support can make a significant difference for those in need, providing them with tools and experiences that promote care and resilience.
Please feel free to share this post with others who might be interested in contributing. Together, we can bring light and care to lives touched by hardship.
With gratitude, Paul , Gabriela, Clara, Yay Gyi Yar. 🙏🏼
