'The world of sleep is incredibly fascinating and I feel so privileged to be able to play a part in the management of sleep-disordered breathing. Improving the quality of someone's sleep is extremely rewarding. The impact of a good night's sleep can be felt not only by the patient but also on their loved ones. I am determined to treat as many patients as I can, my work has only just begun...'

💫 Let me reintroduce myself..

My name is Dr Clare Simon and I have been a general dentist for over 12 years but my greatest passion is dental sleep medicine. A lot of people are still confused by what dental sleep medicine is and to explain it simply, it’s the area of dentistry where we help patients with sleep disordered breathing such as those patients who snore or have obstructive sleep apnoea.

I set up The London Dental Sleep Clinic at the beginning of the year to have a clinic purely focused on helping patients with such problems. The ability to help patients in this way has been the most rewarding to me. A lot of people joke about snoring but it can have such detrimental effects on relationships amongst other things. There is also the risk that these snorers may be suffering from sleep apnoea which is something I screen for and then work as part of a multidisciplinary team managing these patients to get them the best treatment outcomes.

I am hugely passionate about educating other dentists so that they understand they play a vital role in screening for sleep apnoea. I’m proud to be on the board for the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine where we train dentists in this area and educate the public.

If you’d like to be assessed or would like a complimentary phone consultation then please DM. 💫

💫 There is no better feeling in life than knowing you're making a difference. This patient simply messaged me to say 'i'm cured!!' together with a letter from the hospital discharging them because their sleep apnoea index has dramatically reduced whilst wearing a mandibular advancement appliance.

This is what it's all about..helping people improve the quality of their lives. Get in touch to see how we can help you today. 💫

💫 According to the British Lung Foundation, it is estimated that in the UK 1.5 million adults have obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), although only around 330,000 are currently diagnosed and treated.

This is a worrying statistic as we know that untreated OSA can lead to increased road traffic accident rates, cardiovascular events, and strokes.

If you feel that you or a loved one may be suffering from OSA then please be in touch today to see how we can help. 💫

💫 Would you believe it if I told you that a device this small could help you to stop snoring?

Mandibular advancement devices work by gently holding the lower jaw forwards to open up the airway and thus reduce your snoring symptoms!

All patients coming to the sleep clinic will have a full sleep assessment to check suitability for a device and in the right patient, these work amazingly well! So if your a snorer or your loved one is driving you mad at night.. what are you waiting for? We can’t wait to see you at the London Dental Sleep Clinic soon! 💫

💫 Reviews like this makes it all worthwhile...

'Dr Simon was especially helpful in dealing with me as a nervous dental patient who needed extra reassurance and patience. I was able to successfully wear the device to sleep in just a few days. I'm glad I was encouraged to persevere as my husband can no longer hear me snoring which is a very positive outcome.' 💫

💫 If you snore, you're not alone. A whopping 57% of men and 40% of women snore but does it actually matter if you snore during the night?

Snoring is very common and put simply, it is the sound made by vibrations of the soft palate and other tissue in the mouth, nose & throat when we breath in and out. Snoring mainly happens when we sleep because our muscles relax and this loss of muscle tone is insufficient in stopping the airway tissue vibrating.

Most people snore from time to time with little consequences but it can have a big impact on your bed partner. Snoring can also be linked to other medical conditions such as oral sleep apnoea and this will need further investigation.

At the London Dental Sleep Clinic we fully assess all our snorers. We can help by providing a non-invasive appliance called a mandibular advancement device (MAD). These devices help position the lower jaw forwards to open up the airway and improve the airflow thus reducing snoring symptoms.
