From Damascus to London. From hope to honour.

On Friday night, at the Aesthetic Medicine Awards, my team and I were engulfed with joy, disbelief, and a deep sense of fulfilment as we were honoured with not one, but three incredible awards:
Best Clinic in London, Aesthetic Surgeon of the Year, and ultimately, Best Clinic in the UK—selected among the finest aesthetic clinics across our beautiful United Kingdom.

This outcome, on one hand, validates the wisdom of hard work, sincerity, honesty, and service—values my team and I strive to embody every single day.

But as I stood on that stage, I couldn’t help but reflect on a younger version of myself: a fourth-year medical student newly arrived from Damascus, facing a seemingly unbridgeable 90/10 gap between himself and his accomplished peers. Determined to learn, to contribute, and to grow, I joined the NHS to gain from the wisdom of those heroes I admired so deeply.

This journey has witnessed sweat, tears, blood, and countless sleepless nights—on the wards, in emergency rooms, at study desks and airports around the world—each moment a building block in the vision to create a 361-degree, evidence-based centre of excellence devoted to care and service.

None of this would have been possible without the impossible task of balancing patients, team, and family. To my incredible patients, my devoted team, and my loving family: thank you for your trust, your faith, and your unwavering support.

These awards sharpen our commitment to serve our community and patients at the highest standard, and to work with our partners across this wonderful industry to raise the bar for care in our profession.

I also hope this moment sends a message to millions of young people who feel trapped by war, hardship, or limited access to education and healthcare: you are not alone. Collaboration, compassion, care, and peace are our only hope for a better, more beautiful future.

With deep gratitude,
My love and best wishes to you all.

How fast time lapses…already half way through the new year that has just started and I am preparing for my first day back in the office feeling confused and heavy hearted in such a bitter winter.

Dont get me wrong…remember my post of 30th November, when I was elated with joy at the professional achievements realised which were beyond my wildest dreams, remember my September post of the arrival of little Zizu…? 2024 has been such a blessed year to me, to my family and for my team…a wonderful year for joy and huge achievements, but believe me, after so many scientific papers, keynote talks and conferences, after securing the (daily bread) and that of tomorrow!!! (Thank you Lord) all material achievement are dwarfed before our total failure to be able to help those who are in desperate need of safety, security and most basic of human needs.

And despite my PR team and friends keep advising me to focus only on aesthetic plastic surgery and medicine education and drop contentious issues I could not ignore the tremendous sufferings in the Middle East that keep bringing heaviness to my chest and mind.

The war in Gaza is continuing to devastate civilians and especially children as my kids sleep warmly in relative safety, the Lebanon-Israel 60 days cease fire is about to expire with more potential of violence and destruction and despite jubilation of end of dictatorship in Syria more challenges for a just peaceful prosperous Syria are emerging.

This art is my favourite ever of all times. I prefer it to the Mona Lisa or David…no art would ever mean to me as much as it does. Imagine the alternative reaction of your opposite action. What if we chose the flowers instead of arms, inclusion instead of xenophobia and compassion instead of hatred!!!

Reading of the new 8 billion in arms marked to flame the Middle East in the New year (in 6 months the US approved a 9 years equivalent of military spent…) I asked ChatGPT what if all military losses were directed for peace…I was shocked with the results: Israeli and Arabs would have all had EU & US standards twice over!

Wow!!! Why such choices? Why such misery? When will the world learn?

Hope springs eternally 🫶🏻

Since the fraternity of aesthetic plastic surgeons welcomed the genius of in his evolution of endoscopic global face optimisation with his masterpiece and I became an immediate follower and a fan! I flew to several corners of this planet to listen to his lectures often in over filled halls! I was privileged to have many insightful discussions with him about his work and beyond into his superior philosophy of no compromise!
Finally the day has come and he conducts the inaugural academy at an academic institution and I am so very honoured and privileged to have been here.
When he teaches the details as we perform the procedure with him step by step, one realises how some of us humans have this relentless drive to achievement and perfection. No little obstacle towards the best possible outcome in facial restoration and optimisation is left unsolved. Decades of hard work and dedication has been invested in this anatomical miracle, which I can not wait to bring to my patients and community.
It will not be easy to reach sensei Kao’s mastery at the beginning and I am grateful to his mentorship and generosity and continuous support.
It was wonderful to also meet masters I have cited in my papers and lectures such Dr and meet old friends and make new beautiful friends … course will definable be an incredible milestone in my life and I am so very grateful to sensei Chia Chi and all who made it happen.
Dont worry little Zain…no matter what…It is a beautiful world the one you have just arrived in and will always be.

To all my friends, family, colleagues and patients celebrating Eid Al Adha, I wish you all a blessed period with loved ones. It is difficult to celebrate when many continue to live with deprivation, threat, war and loss. To all my prayers and thoughts.
This Eid, is a reminder of how from the adversary hope can spring and in the midst of desert oasis can break and within the threat and loss reward and prosperity can begin.
Embrace the moment while hold those who are in suffering in the light! Peace to all!

I am using BTL EMSELLA chair to boost my fitness challenge! I am not cheating, but rather optimising!

This device is incredible…it repairs and tightens the pelvic floor helping men and women to
Strengthen it.
A totally non-invasive procedure with no downtime. I can remain as you can see fully clothed throughout.
The Emsella chair is a painless way of giving my pelvic muscles an effective workout to follow the rest of my body. I would certainly recommend it to all our patients especially those who might be suffering from urinary or intimate health conditions.

I have been more or less a cardio fan, which undoubtedly was beneficial to my health…building muscle, however, often was a low priority for me. Now, as life is slipping through my fingers I am being led by research showing that maintaining and increasing muscle mass is more vital for overall health and longevity.
Muscles play a very important role in many key processes of our health and well being such as

# Strength and Independence: the key for quality of life in older age!

# Metabolism and Weight Management. By increasing muscle mass, we can boost our resting metabolic rate so we burn more calories even at rest.

# Bone Health: Strong muscles support healthy bones and improve bone density protecting against fractures and injuries.

# Disease Prevention: Stronger muscles has been linked to a lower risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Having suffered from insulin resistance for all my adult life, muscles mass lead to better insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.

# Mental and emotional Well-being: It has been long known that rigorous exercise reduces anxiety and depression, improves cognitive function, and enhances overall well-being.
I will be taking myself (and you) on a journey of health and beauty over this spring season to put all I have learned in medicine and beyond to challenge myself in public and show to my lazy self how I can start building muscle in and beyond. I will be following the planet’s best experts engaging with what makes sense and unmasking myths and challenging my temptations….
So, would I be able to rise to this challenge? I have thus far failed in focusing on my own strength. Distractions, excuses, this and that…please feel free to join me now to embrace the benefits of muscle strengthening towards a healthier and more beautiful life!

Coming to has been a great experience - thanks . Two masterclasses, one live demonstration and hundreds of precious memories with friends, mentors and students old and new.
Assumptions and predetermined mindsets are a huge barrier to progress. One has to walk through life with a heart and mind of a young child. Ever open and excited to the new insights and opportunities presented by each new days.
I wish I could thank each and everyone who has contributed to this incredible week. I will see you all very soon. Thank you for wonderful hospitality in

was a fascinating place! In life there are amazing places where parallel realities exist in an incredible proximities, in adherence, yet the gap is unbridgeable!!! As my car went from the airport to the hotel I was able to see just below the motorway, separated by a fence and river. Recently an art-architecture project installed seesaws allowing kids of both countries to play on the same toy with the “fence” “wall” being the fulcrum! An amazing gesture of humanity!
I remember a similar feeling when I visited the Golan Heights (Syrian side) looking over the to the occupied part of Syria as families parted by this “barrier” communicated through loudspeakers!!!…the in Korea was another example.
Life and death, light and dark, knowledge and ignorance, understanding and apathy are other examples that surpass geography and sociopolitical reality to touch everyone of us everyday…where would we be? Where would we choose to be on each side of the fence is usually a very complex decision and is not easy to make!!!
I have decided to embark on this journey to expand my ability to bridge the gap between my patients’ reality and their aspiration and my knowledge and skill reality and what I can do for them to bridge the gap…it is always about bridging the gap! Dr was beyond a bridge between my two reality and he selflessly gave all! A true giant of modern plastic surgery reconstructive and aesthetic…and to reach further, we stand on the shoulders of giants! Thank you! Thank you and your lovely family at home and at work! 🙌
When faced by a barrier humans have limited number of options: bring the wall down (Berlin, South Africa, Gandhi), make it higher and deeper (Sudan, Yemen, Korea), head in sand (the default human approach) and finally total alienation and dehumanisation of the other all the way up to total genoside (many many religious, colonial and sectarian historical and modern scenarios 😔).
Lots of happening at home! Lots of exciting things! We are constantly building bridges to better banks with greener grass and happier healthier realities…what gap will you bridge today?

Guess where I am…one step I am in here, another step I am elsewhere…one further step and I am out of the country…
In Medicine in general and surgery in particular it is not enough to read about a new technique, or see it on youtube or in a conference…the best way of learning is to get on with a pilgrimage to the master chapel, sit humbly in his shadow…if in favour, one would stand on the shoulder of the Giant to see further…
And yes, for the passion of knowledge, for the passion of serving my beloved patients I stay up two consecutive nights and travel quarter the orbit of the plant to spend a couple of hours learning …
,
You are worth all my suffering…
If only life goes on forever…if only learning ends one day…the art is long, life is short…only to be with you. In peace … more to come…

It was exactly six years ago in on the 18 02 2018 when our beloved Leila arrived! She was born exactly four days after the little basement room at London’s Medical district that I started as a wild card into putting my three decades of medical surgical and regenerative knowledge into service. Cutting Leila’s umbilical cord was akin of cutting the lifeline of public sector service as I considered aesthetic arts and sciences too serious not to focus and dedicate my full attention to.
Six rounds around the sun since and Leila is a thriving young lady who is full of vivaciousness, wit, love, giving and passion!!!
Leila and grew up as twins, faced the same challenges at time of surviving, the@ crawling, then balancing on two feets then a most unfortunate limb threatening tibial fracture to recover into the agile wonderful multi-organisms they are now…they have been both so fragile in their infancy and equally so cute and beautiful.
I am proud of them both, of their young spirits, fast changing ever more beautiful faces and their elegance and multiculturalism. They are both growing in difficult times now, and I worry about their future and will dedicate my full attention and energy to see them both thrive to become positive force of beauty, goodness, giving and charity in this world. I feel so privileged to have them healthy and beautiful at times when our brothers and sisters in Eastern Europe and the Middle East face war insecurity and misfortune.
Their beautiful early years and their promising futures would not have been possible to realise without the amazing generosity of my wonderful Yurika .02.18hug , Hana, Hasan, Heba .g7 , Manas , Elias Mum, Dad, Ali (Bless your soul dearest brother), Hani, Ghassan .ghassan.as , George and all my friends, family, mentors, colleagues at the Ghanem Clinic and as well as and most importantly all my patients throughout these six years and beyond. You are all so very important to me and I am for ever grateful to you for all your support!!!!
Happy birthday Leila…& the GC…with many happy returns
