This is my “grandma” well she is grandma to loads of family and friends. I felt so wonderful spending a few hours with her visiting London. Time with loved ones—family, friends, or close community—offers a wide range of wellness benefits, both mentally and physically. Here’s how those connections contribute to overall well-being:

1. Reduces Stress
• Quality time with loved ones triggers the release of oxytocin and lowers cortisol, the stress hormone.
• Emotional support helps buffer against daily stressors and reduces the risk of burnout.

2. Boosts Mental Health
• Increases feelings of belonging, self-worth, and purpose.
• Lowers risk of anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
• Encourages open communication, which can be therapeutic and grounding.

3. Improves Physical Health
• Socially connected people tend to have lower blood pressure, better immune function, and healthier habits.
• Reduces the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease.

4. Enhances Longevity
• Studies consistently show that people with strong social ties live longer.
• Quality relationships are as important to health as quitting smoking or maintaining a healthy diet.

5. Encourages Healthy Behaviors
• Loved ones often motivate us to eat better, exercise, attend medical appointments, and manage our health.
• Accountability and shared goals are easier in a close-knit group.

6. Increases Resilience
• Knowing someone “has your back” can make it easier to bounce back from adversity, loss, or illness.
• Social support is a key factor in coping mechanisms during tough times.

7. Fosters Emotional Growth
• Spending time with loved ones improves empathy, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution skills.
• Encourages vulnerability and deeper understanding of oneself and others.

Simple Ways to Connect
• Share meals together.
• Go for walks or engage in active hobbies.
• Make time for regular calls or check-ins.
• Celebrate small milestones and support each other during hard times.

Well, it’s amazing what you can accomplish with great group of friends and 100s of volunteers . I cried, I laughed and keep going. It’s just when you think you can’t accomplish an uphill challenge, you can do it when you have loving people around you, and proper nutrition. We are at our best when things get tough. Thanks to everyone who helped.

“NO” Year’s Resolutions! 🎉

I’m not a fan of extreme, unachievable goals that quickly become overwhelming and leave us feeling worse about ourselves. Small wins, realistic goals, and steady progress are far more motivating—and much more sustainable!

So, before the New Year’s Eve madness kicks in, I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and remind you that resolving to spend 8 days a week in the gym or survive on salad and sheer willpower is NOT the vibe for 2025.

Let’s talk about making healthy changes in a way that works for you. I'm here when you're ready. Link in the comments!

Happy New Year! 🙌
