On what seemed like a routine day of care back in early December, both lift systems in one of our Extra Care schemes stopped working leaving 13 residents stuck in the communal lounge downstairs.
Quick thinking Katie took charge and organised the entire team of care workers to ensure the residents were well looked after. Due to the range of residents cared for, this was no easy task.
Emma Dempster, Extra Care Scheme Manager, explained: โKatie stayed for the whole day to support and made sure all service users were kept safe, given medication, food, and drinks. She also kept everyone entertained and updated on when they would be able to go home to their flatsโ.
Katie was surprised to be picked as one of our Extraordinary Care winners. โI am so grateful to be recognised and hope to reach the regional ceremony!โ
