Optimism is a happiness magnet. The next few weeks/months will be very challenging as the R value is creeping up. Stay positive and remember we have to protect ourselves and those all around us as responsible citizens. Good luck everyone.

Hope everyone is well. Stay healthy and be positive. Just spoken to a friend of a friend who works in a lab and he told me that the antibody tests that they have available are not showing any false negatives. Early days but hopefully all the NHS staff can be tested soon.

Times are hard but well done to everyone so far. Nightingale is quite empty as is the hospital in Birmingham. Number of deaths are falling but we have seen a rise in non-COVID related deaths. Everyone is avoiding hospitals and Doctors but as a result of this we are getting deaths that could have been prevented. Please if someone is unwell speak to your GP, do a video call or even go and see one at designated sites. Fear of the virus is making patients take risks with their lives. Well done for isolating and socially distancing yourselves. The real challenge will be when we open up. Stay safe and stay healthy. 🇬🇧

Just wanted to share some more information with everyone regarding the virus. In my last post I mentioned that most patients have mild symptoms and recover within 2 weeks. It’s really interesting that I am dealing with patients that have tummy symptoms. So they have ongoing diarrhoea or vomiting and a low grade fever of 37.9. Sometimes they think it’s something else and COVID doesn’t even cross their mind. Please remember if you have any of the above symptoms you can have a different form of COVID. Stay home and stay safe.

The NHS is overstretched and a lot of the wards have now become COVID19 wards. PPE is not available to everyone and many of us have endeavoured to buy our own. The death toll is at about 200 per day and the aim is to make sure this doesn’t get higher. The next few weeks will be the toughest in my medical career. Please stay safe and stay at home. We will overcome this but only with your help. My advice in these anxious times: 1) Be positive 2) Eat and sleep well 3) exercise 4) Have regular group video calls with your loved ones 5) Avoid listening to too much news 6) play games 7) pray/meditate 8) show compassion and kindness 9) Help whoever you can 10) Be safe.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to my colleagues in
A&E
Hospital
Intensive care
To my fellow GP’s
And Nurses

The last few weeks have been the most stressful of my life in the NHS.
We have lost colleagues in this battle and there are some very dedicated colleagues fighting for their lives across hospitals in the country.

We will fight and work together to bring an end to this Pandemic.
I’m so glad we have a soft lockdown and I would have done it weeks ago.

I just wanted to emphasise the need for Social Distancing. If you look at the pic that I have posted then you can see 1 person infects 2.5 people. If you reduce the exposure of that one person then they infect 1.25 people. Reduce it further to 75% exposure and in the long run over 30 days only 2.5 people are infected instead of a whopping 406 infected people.

Please follow the rules of the Prime Minister and stay at home. Avoid unnecessary visits to the GP.
Stay healthy.
