Another beautiful smile transformation just in time for summer ☀️

Right, I know it’s London and it could change any second, but it’s June now so let’s just pretend this gorgeous weather is here to stay, these beautiful teeth certainly are.

This guy is an honest to god legend, and this is exactly what I get out of bed in the morning for.

Upper front chip and some completed the look, but take a closer look at the lower scans and there’s something else going on.

Crowding, especially in the lower teeth, makes it much harder to clean the teeth, using floss and interdental brushes or whatever, and you can see the difference in this patient was able to maintain after just a few months of straightening with Invisalign.

We also widened the buccal corridors, and addressed the anterior open bite (scans included in slide 4) patient wasn’t in full occlusion for photos (my fault) so I included the scans compensate for my poor photography skills (we can’t have everything). Space was an issue also, too much in the maxilla and not enough in the mandible. The patient didn’t want stripping, and lower premolar extractions were out of the question, so some lateral incisor tilting was the happy compromise we came to. Giving this lovely, aesthetically pleasing finish, while still resolving the lower crowding and anterior open bite.

Laser Depigmentation, three short sessions for this result 👊

This lovely patient had been self conscious of the dark patches on her tongue for a long long time. I removed the pigmentation and the cells which produce it, 3 sessions, only used topical anaesthetic (numbing gel). Luvleh.

Hugely emotional day for everyone today as we finally complete this case which was over 2 years in the making ❤️

Our lovely patient Luyi was halfway through planning for an implant by Dr Cohan Rajan upon his untimely passing in 2022.

I was able to pick up this case and after addressing numerous issues with occlusion (bite), bruxism (grinding) and treating other damaged teeth, we were able to finally able to proceed with surgery in October 2024.

Implant stability, healing, and exposure and crown fit could not have gone better, and the result is this lovely screw retained monolithic zirconia crown which with the right monitoring and care should last a lifetime!

A huge thanks to the incredible staff and my colleagues at UCL Eastman and UCLH, obviously massive thanks to this beautiful patient Luyi, who is the most patient patient I have ever met (2+ years) and finally I want to thank my Uncle, who taught me everything I know.

Textbook.

Sometimes it’s a case of lots of little small things adding up to a big difference.

The brief: a nice bright wide smile

Here’s one for the aesthetics dentists, a case that we thought would take 5 months actually taking about two years:
Problems to solve: complex bite with deep class 2, narrow buccal corridors, reverse smile line, asymmetrical gingival zeniths, the list goes on…

We widened the buccal corridors, corrected a deep bite, proclined the upper incisors, sculpted the gums, corrected the smile line, and whitened to finish.

This patient was about as patient as they come, and really understood the brief and the importance of doing things right and the time it required, so happy with the results, just in time for Scandi Christmas! 🎄🦷

Think I’m getting the hang of this.

Implant supported screw retained cantilever bridge: is there a better 6 word combination in the world? No.

As a side note this is one of the most kind, beautiful and patient patients I’ve ever had the fortune of working with and seeing his smile transformed and the end result really made my week, great stuff, sometimes dentistry is worth it 😇

Laser tongue treatment to remove unwanted pigmentation 💥

Tongue pigmentation is totally normal and natural, but some people want the dark spots removed for aesthetic reasons.
After two 30minute sessions this was the result after two weeks of healing.

Today the great man himself, Dr Cohan would have been 50 years old. And I’m sure he would have wanted us all to make an enormous fuss of him!
So remember how much joy he brought to patients and colleagues alike, and how much laughter and light he gave us.
Take a second today to celebrate his audacious fabulousnesses, he’d want you to smile. Rest in peace, legend ❤️
