🐾✨ Our residents had the most wonderful day out at the zoo last week! ✨🐾

They loved seeing all the animals and enjoyed a lovely picnic together with plenty of tea and coffee. It was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and happy memories. 🦁🐒🐧

Everyone had been looking forward to this trip, and it truly didn’t disappoint such a special day for all! 💛

✨ A Wedding to Remember✨💒

This past week has been truly special here at St Ives Lodge, Our theme was “My Wedding Day” & weddings, and what a celebration it turned out to be! memory sharing activities, everything built up to our big “wedding day” last Friday and it was nothing short of magical.

Our amazing staff pulled out all the stops:
👰🤵 Two of our team members “tied the knot” in a joyful (pretend!) wedding ceremony, complete with an aisle walk, vows, and plenty of laughter.
💍 Residents joined in the fun by guessing the bride in our “Guess the Bride” game, using real wedding photos of our staff.
📖 We shared stories of residents’ own weddings, or memories of family celebrations, which brought happy tears and heartfelt smiles.
👗 We even held a fabulous wedding catwalk, with staff showing off glamorous dresses, fascinators, big hats and evening gowns. Residents cheered and voted for the “best dressed”!
🍰 Our brilliant chef baked a stunning two-tier wedding cake, which was cut by the bride and groom before everyone enjoyed a delicious slice.

The dining room was beautifully decorated like a real wedding reception, with residents and staff, celebrating together at our dressed-up tables. The atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, and togetherness truly a day to remember.

💐 A huge thank you to all our staff for their 100% participation, creativity, and joy and to our residents and families for joining us in such a heart-warming celebration.
Special Thankyou to the Manager and Christine Bragg for pulling together such a detailed plan and schedule to keep the whole day running smoothly, the manager was the commentator, calling staff down the aisle one by one! It truly was teamwork at its best 💕

At St Ives Lodge we believe in making every day special and this wedding week reminded us all what life, love, and laughter are really about. ❤️

🌸 St Ives Summer Garden Party 2025 🌸

Yesterday we celebrated our annual Summer Garden Party and what a truly beautiful day it was! 🌿✨

Although the sun decided not to join us, the weather was kind, and the atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness.

🎶 The wonderful Siobhan sang her heart out and kept everyone entertained, with plenty of dancing throughout the afternoon.

🍹 We had an open bar and Pimm’s was a big hit.

🎟️ There were fantastic raffle prizes, lots of happy winners, and a real sense of community spirit all round.

Most of all, we want to say a huge thank you:
💐 To all the families and friends who came along it was wonderful to see you.
💐 To those who couldn’t make it you were very much missed, and we hope to see you at the next event.
💐 And above all, to our amazing staff team you go above and beyond every single day, but events like this take so much physical effort, planning, and heart. We see how hard you work, and we are so deeply grateful. You truly are what makes St Ives such a special place. ❤️

🌞 Summer at St Ives 🌞

What a joyful and busy couple of months it has been here at St Ives Care Home! We’ve based July and August around a “Summer by the Beach” theme, sparking wonderful conversations and memories of childhood holidays, seaside food, and favourite beaches near and far.

🎶 Music has filled the home Elvis (with his daughter Chloe!) had everyone singing and dancing, our lovely Dave sang beautifully for us, and Mobility London joined us twice with sessions combining singing, movement, and fun physical exercise to keep everyone moving.

🇲🇽 Our colourful Mexican Day was a highlight with staff in bright outfits, maraca-making crafts, quizzes, a delicious Mexican feast cooked by our chef, and of course plenty of Macarena dancing!

🎨 Residents have been creative too making seaside creatures now proudly displayed around the home.

We marked VJ Day gently with a story called “When the World Breathed Again” read by Chris, alongside quizzes and reflections.

👶 Our Baby Therapy sessions and the visit from Hoppers Nursery brought smiles, cuddles, and even a mini “Olympic Games” in the garden such special moments of joy and connection.

🎂 We celebrated Doreen and Robert’s birthdays with beautiful cakes made by our chef and of course, plenty of singing and laughter.

🍰 From Teas & Tunes every Tuesday at the local hall, to lunches out, coffee mornings, one-to-one walks, and our very popular Seaside Bingo, there really is never a quiet day here. Sometimes we joke it makes us dizzy because there’s always something going on!

🍔 Weekly BBQs in the garden, beach ball games, paddling pools, and our very own beach-themed garden corner with deck chairs, sandpit, and beach balls have kept the summer spirit alive.

💧 To stay refreshed, residents enjoy hydration with smoothies, fruity cocktails (alcohol-free), and plenty of cooling drinks.

✨ For our residents in more advanced stages of dementia, we’ve been focusing on sensory activities gentle touch with soothing oils, calming sounds, and white noise ensuring comfort and dignity every day.

❤️ A huge thank you to our amazing staff who don’t just participate in activities but join in wholeheartedly their energy and laughter shine through. And of course, to families who come along and support, your involvement means the world.

🌿 As summer draws to a close, we’re looking ahead to September’s “Animal” theme with a special trip to the Zoo planned. More memories are just around the corner!
