✨ Exosomes in Aesthetic Medicine: Breakthrough or Buzz? ✨
Exosomes are being promoted as the latest innovation in aesthetic treatments — said to smooth wrinkles, enhance hydration, stimulate collagen, and improve skin firmness.
But what does the current research actually support?
🧪 So far, the scientific backing is minimal. In fact, the evidence is even less developed than for polynucleotides, despite the growing hype.
📚 A recent systematic review warned that without high-quality clinical studies, the excitement around exosome-based therapies risks turning them into little more than “modern-day snake oil.”
Another review raised important safety questions — particularly around the risk of contamination with pathogens and compounds that could trigger immune responses.
Even among experts, there’s uncertainty about what exosomes truly do and whether their effects are helpful or potentially harmful.
🚨 Before we embrace the hype, we need solid science.
Innovation is always welcome — but safety, evidence, and ethics must come first.
