One of the questions I get the most is “how do I overcome depression?”, I thought creating this post could help so many people who feel lost about how to begin helping themselves.

This was such a hard post to make, as a therapist I have so much to say about depression and I found really hard summarising it for the purpose of this post. So I had make it in 2 posts (sorry! 🫣) this is part 2, check part 1 on my feed.

Depression is a serious mental health problem & it is important to differentiate feeling depressed and actually experiencing clinical depression. Do not confuse depression with sadness: not always being sad means being depressed and not every depressed person shows sadness.

Either way, it is really important to look after our mood & mental health and I really hope this post can help you or someone you know. 💓

Our Nervous System controls every system in our body- so it’s REALLY important we regulate our nervous system daily!

Self soothing is the most important technique to regulate our nervous system and you can be creative and do what works best for you & your needs [You can read more about self soothing in my previous posts.]

The idea is:

✨ If you have been overdoing maybe resting and “light” activities will help more;

✨ If you have been underdoing maybe getting active will help the most.

It’s all about awareness and balance.
Get in the habit of asking yourself: “what my body needs right now?”.

Today I’m doing #6 & #10 and tomorrow #4 & #5 and about you? Let me know!!! 😊

Society sold this idea “new year, new me” but we know life doesn’t really work like that.. and it’s okay if you’re feeling unmotivated, tired and disappointed.

However it’s exactly when we feel like this that we need to show up for ourselves- and showing up can mean anything that will make us feel better, validated, heard and seen.

Showing up for ourselves is a choice we have to make for ourselves, over & over again.

I know it’s hard, and some days we just don’t feel like doing it…

but we are still here, we are alive and breathing and this deserves to be celebrated.

IT’S OUT!!! 🎉🎉🥳

At the beginning of this year I went outside of my comfortable zone and decided to learn how to create a new website for my private practice!

Being a therapist sometimes feels it’s the only thing I really know how to do, however this year I reminded myself we all have capacity to learn new things and sit with the discomfort of not knowing, failing and learning.

Interestingly, I got it mostly done by end of June but then life showed up with other things (as happens to all of us😅) and only now I’m able to publish it.

🤝🏽Of course I had help creating it, so a big thank you to my partner & friends and my private clients for their testimonials and for being my greatest source of referrals.

The beginning of the year tends to see increased interest in therapy, possibly due to New Year’s resolutions/goals, a desire for personal growth, or reflection on one’s well-being.

Feeling anxious before your first therapy session is normal and often people ask what they need to prepare for their first therapy session, so if you are planning to start therapy this checklist can be helpful.

Therapy is designed to be a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.

Therapy is a journey and it’s crucial to remind yourself to be patient when starting therapy. Allow yourself the space to explore your thoughts and emotions gradually, and recognize that progress may come in small steps. 🌱🌳

I am back to where my heart belongs 🥹

I don’t think we talk enough about immigration. I don't think immigrants are seen as they should.
Immigration requires a deep level of courage and a purpose which is questioned all the time you become homesick.

I’ve been living in London for 8 years and although I love living there I also struggle with homesickness.
The hardest truth is- I wish I could live in 2 places at the same time.

What do I do when I feel this way? I turn my attention to the present moment, to the here and now. Everything feels better when we only live in the present moment and I remember “it is okay, I can sit with this feeling and let it pass”. ❤️

Self soothing is the ability to look after yourself when you feel distressed, overwhelmed, numb or when you struggle with any strong emotions by doing something that will help you regulate how you feel.

Self soothing can help you be calmer in your day-to-day interactions with others; you will be more prepared for challenging situations and focused on your goals.

〰️However when someone struggles with an anxiety disorder, there’s no quick fix and it might often feel a never ending struggle however there is healthy ways to help relief & cope with momentary anxiety and professionals ready to help.

❔Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough to do your job — and that your boss & colleagues might figure it out at any moment?

❔Have you ever felt like you’re only pretending to be capable?

❔Have you ever felt like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing, but you feel lost?

⚠️ Spoiler alert: It’s not only you! Most other people have felt this way, too!

💡Although Imposter Syndrome isn’t a mental health diagnosis, therapy can help with this & you can learn strategies to deal and overcome it.
