⚡️Are you making towards or away moves?
We all tend to avoid or move away to get rid of uncomfortable/scary thoughts and feelings.
And yes, moving away does grant us temporary relief but it also takes us away from the things that matter, from the things we want to achieve, from the life we want to build.
🧠 Choice Point is a technique from ACT therapy that shows that every day we are making choices, in everything we do, we choose to move away or move towards the life we want to live.
Look at the activities you do daily- are these activities moving you towards or away?
E.g resting might lead you Towards if you have been active. On the other hand, being active might lead you Towards if you have been deactivated.
✨ It’s all about balance and if you start listening to your body you might realise you have all the answers. ☺️
🧠 I have been sharing on my Instagram stories for the past days my daily mental health activities hoping this helps people to understand there are small daily things we can do to move us Towards better health, a better mental health 💓

❔Do you feel weird when you soothe your inner child?
❔What are the difficulties you find?
Soothing your inner child can indeed feel weird, uncomfortable, etc… it’s so much easier to criticise ourselves than to show us some love.
Don’t give up on your inner child work, keep practicing.. keep unfolding ✨🌼🌸

Dr. Burns made this discovery that our negative feelings always say something good about us and those feelings can help us understand our core values as human being. You can read more about this in his book Feeling Great.
Next time you’re having negative feelings ask yourself:
• What are some benefits or advantages of this negative thought or feeling?
• What does this negative thought or feeling show about you and your core values that’s positive?
• What does it say about you as a person?

We all have our inner child inside of us looking for our attention. Acknowledge your inner child and let them know that you’re there for them. Talk with them in the same way you needed when you were a child.
5 simple things you can say to your inner child to make them feel safe:
🍃I hear you
🍁I’m here for you
🌱I understand you
🍂I’m sorry you feel this way
🌿I love you

Those reframing words (Movement) changed my relationship with my body. What if you aim to move your body instead of giving yourself pressure to exercise?
Nothing new unfolds from ruminating about the past or worrying about the future- focusing our attention in the present moment, in the here and now is the way moving forward ☺️
A common negative belief in trauma work is “I did something wrong”. It’s so easy for our brain to develop guilt & shame from past situations and we believe we actually did something wrong when most of the times we did the best we could at that time. Judging our past selves with today’s brain is not a fair game.
