☀️👒 Before waving goodbye to summer, our residents at Methven House in Kirkcaldy decided to go out in style with a Swimwear Competition!

From designing and crafting their very own outfits to modelling them with confidence and laughter, the day was filled with colour and creativity. Of course, there was a prize for the winning design, but truly, everyone was a star on our catwalk. 🌊✨

This activity tied in perfectly with National Arts in Care Homes Day yesterday, a reminder of just how important creativity is at every stage of life. At Methven House, we believe in celebrating imagination all year round – because creativity brings joy, connection, and plenty of smiles. 💙

Yesterday, some members of our team attended the Alzheimer Scotland Annual Conference 2025 in Edinburgh for a day of learning, discussion and inspiration.

This year’s programme focused on:

🧠 Improving brain health at every stage of life

🏡 Research into advanced dementia in care homes and insights to improve support for residents living with advanced dementia

📜 The future of long-term care provision

For those of us working in care homes, these conversations are vital. Dementia care is not just about meeting needs, but about seeing the individuals, protecting dignity, innovative ways of connecting and support.

We left the conference with fresh ideas, renewed commitment, and a deeper understanding of how we can continue to make a difference every day in our work. A great conference, thanks Alzheimer Scotland.

🎬🍹 Film Friday at Fernlea House! 🍹🎬

Our Film Friday with popcorn and drinks trolley was, as always, a big hit here at Fernlea House in Cardenden. This week we ended the day with the swashbuckling adventure The Goonies – a journey full of treasure maps, hidden caves and plenty of laughs from start to finish. 🌊⚓💎

Some residents enjoyed a wee tipple whilst enjoying the adventure, making it a Friday to remember. It’s these shared experiences that bring our community closer together and create those little moments of joy we all treasure. 💛

Sundays are made for slowing down, a cosy cuppa in hand and a good story to enjoy ☕📖. Last week at Walton House Care Home in Leven we created our own good story ready for you to read.

We had a creative writing afternoon filled with ideas, laughter, and plenty of biscuits! Together, we followed 5 simple steps – a beginning, build up, problem, solution, and ending, all helping Muriel bring her wonderful tale “Catty” to life 🐾.

The story follows the adventures of Mr Meow, a cheerful town leading cat who bravely faces a new challenge in his town of Buckhaven. As with all great stories lessons are learned along the way and, spoiler alert, there's a happy ending!!! 💛

Tapping into our residents’ creativity is more than just fun – it keeps minds active, boosts confidence, and nurtures wellbeing. Most of all, it reminds us that every idea and imagination deserves to shine ✨.

🎶💃 What a fantastic afternoon our residents from Almond Court had at the Golden Friendship Club in Clydebank!

We love food, laughter and entertainment and got that in spadefuls! We enjoyed a delicious lunch, singers, and even had a dance or three! 🌟 The Golden Friendship Club is a wonderful charity that promotes social inclusion by organising entertainment, events, and fun activities for everyone – and our residents loved every moment.

A big thank you to organiser and entertainer Jim for the warm welcome and for making the afternoon such a treat - we can't wait to come back. 💚

💪 Busting the myths around care home life! At Almond View in Drumchapel, our residents are proving that age is no barrier to keeping active and connected. Last week we kicked off our circuits gym session – and as you can see everyone enjoyed it! 🏋️‍♀️✨

Staying fit in later life is about so much more than exercise. Regular movement helps to:

🌱🌞 Our Garden Club was in full swing at Finavon Court Care Home in Glenrothes. Even as the weather turns cooler, our green-fingered residents are determined to keep growing! 💚

Together we planned out what seeds to plant for the coming months and got started with more carrots and spinach 😋 To our delight, we also discovered a few late tomatoes still thriving on Andrew’s plant – a lovely surprise! 🍅

It’s wonderful to see everyone working side by side, enjoying the fresh air, sunshine and each other’s company. 🌿✨

💍✨ A Love Story To Celebrate ✨💍

We were delighted to celebrate a very special milestone at Larkfield View Care Home in Greenock last week, as our much-loved residents Alan and Jean Taylor marked their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, that's 60 years of marriage. 💐

The couple enjoyed a special lunch and evening party, alongside entertainment and plenty of smiles. To make the occasion even more memorable, a congratulatory card from King Charles arrived the day before the celebrations 👑

Alan and Jean’s journey together began all those years ago at Nelson Street Congregational Church, followed by a reception at the Kilmacolm Hydro – both now just fond memories in local history. Over the years they’ve built a wonderful life and family together.

It was a joy to see their love celebrated not only by family, but also by our staff and friends here at Larkfield View. 💚

Please join us in congratulating Alan and Jean on this incredible milestone! 🥂
