At Methven House, ongoing learning is a valued part of everyday life in the home.

This week, Stephen completed his SVQ Level 2, and Yvonne, one of our Senior Care team, achieved her SVQ Level 3 and we'd like to say a big congratulations.

Continued training and development helps ensure our teams feel confident in their roles and supports the consistent, high standard of care we aim to provide for every resident.

If you’d like to find out more about working and developing your career in one of our homes, please get in touch.

Across Holmes Care homes, creativity has been in full bloom 🌼

From colourful sensory displays to beautifully crafted Easter bonnets, residents and teams came together over the Easter weeks to create some truly spectacular entries for our Easter Art Competition. The level of imagination, teamwork and joy on display made judging incredibly difficult.

After much deliberation, we’re delighted to share that Willow House Care Home in Cellardyke were chosen as this year’s winners 🏆

Their winning entry – a handmade replica of a Holmes Care bus – stood out not only for its amazing attention to detail (including some very stylish chicks 🐥😎), but for the heartfelt meaning behind it. Residents created the piece as a thank you to the bus team, who support them to enjoy trips out to places of their choosing 💚

It’s a lovely reflection of what matters most across our homes – connection, appreciation and shared experiences that bring people together.

Well done to everyone who took part – and to Willow House, we can’t wait to see how you choose to enjoy your well-earned prize 👏

🌱 A blooming lovely thank you this National Gardening Day 🌱

Residents at Alexander House and Craigie House in Crossgates marked National Gardening Day this week with a very special thank you to Charlie Currie, son of resident Jenny, for his generous donation of beautiful raised planters 💛

These planters are more than just a lovely addition to the garden, they’re the first step in some exciting plans our residents have been making. From a mini wildflower meadow to growing their own flowers and vegetables, there’s lots to look forward to 🌼🥕

Gardening is such a meaningful activity for our residents, bringing back memories, encouraging gentle movement, and giving everyone something to nurture and enjoy together. read the full story at https://www.holmes-care.co.uk/alexander-craigie-house-care-homes-celebrate-national-gardening-day-with-generous-donation

Moving into a care home doesn’t mean leaving behind the things that make you you. There’s something very special about keeping a passion alive 💛

At Almond Court, resident, Betty, has been back doing what she’s always loved -baking in the kitchen 🍰 With a career as a cook in both hospitals and schools, it’s safe to say she knows her way around a recipe or two!

With support from our Head Cook Helena, Betty recently made a delicious cake for everyone to enjoy. More than just baking, this was about confidence, purpose, and feeling like herself.

Betty’s family were delighted to hear she’s been spending time in the kitchen, doing something that brings her so much joy. And the good news doesn’t stop there - Helena is more than happy to welcome other residents to join in too, so even more cakes to enjoy 👩‍🍳

Moments like this remind us that moving into a care home doesn’t mean leaving behind the things that make you you. It’s about creating opportunities to continue them, together.

The minute the sun made an appearance, everyone at Craigie House was ready to make the most of it ☀️🍦

In Scotland, we know how important it is to enjoy those sunny moments when they arrive, so out came the hats, the ice lollies and plenty of smiles as residents spent time outdoors soaking up the rays.

Simple moments like these bring so much joy and help make life in the home feel connected, cheerful and full of warmth. Here’s hoping the sunshine got the message and comes back again very soon 💛

From the gentlest taps to a few more determined knocks, our residents took aim at the cup perched on our care assistant’s head and proved they’ve still got great aim! 🎯

It’s moments like these that bring laughter into the home and create those shared moments that mean so much to everyone 💛

At Roselea House, it’s all about enjoying time together and keeping that wonderful sense of humour alive.

🐣 Easter Joy, Made Possible Together 🐣

At Holmes Care Group, creating meaningful moments for our residents is always a team effort and that extends far beyond our homes 💛

We’re incredibly grateful to local friends like Tesco and Morrisons, whose generous Easter donations helped bring extra joy to residents as seen in these images from Craigie House and Fernlea House. From sweet treats and thoughtful surprises to Easter Egg Hunts for local school visits, these gestures truly made a difference to the celebrations.

It’s through partnerships like these that we can continue enriching lives and strengthening the connections between our homes and the communities around us.

👏Thank you Tesco Cardenden and Morrisons Cowdenbeath for helping us make Easter that little bit more special 🌼

If you’d like to find out more about life in our homes or how you can get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

🐰🐰🐰When the Easter Bunny came to visit

Spring arrived in the most magical way at Bankview Care Home in banknock! With big floppy ears and a basket full of Easter eggs, our residents' faces lit up the moment the Easter Bunny hopped through the door.

There's something truly special about seeing pure joy, and the Easter Bunny delivered it in abundance.

Days like this are what make the Bankview community so incredibly special. Thank you to everyone who helped make this Easter one to remember.

This one is for our incredible staff💙

In March, our homes came together for Staff Appreciation Week 2026, celebrating the people who make care what it is every single day.

From thoughtful gestures and kind words to well-earned duvet days, it was a week full of smiles and genuine appreciation.

As our CEO, Sharifa Lakhani, shared:
“Together, you create more than care. You create comfort, dignity, laughter and belonging.”

We couldn’t agree more.

👉 Please join us in saying thank you to all of our amazing teams.👏

🦉🦉🦉Last week, Grandholm Care Home in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen welcomed some very special visitors from and what a memorable day it was.

When you hear the name 'Bob', you might not immediately think of an owl! However, Bob is in fact a beautiful barn owl, and he certainly captured everyone’s attention. Along with his feathered friends, Bob brought a real sense of wonder and delight to the home, giving residents, team members and visitors the chance to get closer to these magnificent birds than many ever imagined possible.

Based in Fraserburgh, Bob’s Buddies is a family business that uses their hand-reared owls for therapy and education, creating truly unique experiences that bring people together, lift spirits and create lasting memories.

It was a lovely opportunity to bring something different into the home, enriching lives through shared moments and meaningful engagement for everyone involved.
