can be draining. It can consume all your time and energy. You might feel trapped in a cycle of anxiety that you feel you can’t end. But it isn’t your fault! Nevertheless, you can make the decision to do something about it and get some help. Sometimes we believe we can do it on our own but it doesn’t always work and it can actually make us feel worse. What about you: do you worry ?

After some good years in the medical system, I decided to now move on to a different route where I can work in accordance with my own values and beliefs rather than those imposed by the healthcare system. It is said to see that this system is a money focused system whilst we can all probably agree that it should be a client focused system.
I am driven and motivated to put my clients’ health first and I hope that my work can reflect that! 🩷

When looking for a new therapist, it is helpful to remember that synergy and connection are important. A good therapeutic relationship will take time to be built but it will be the first sign that you are on the good path. However, it doesn't stop there.... A good therapist won't only be nice and empathic and listening to you..... All good therapists invest in their development, take time to reflect on how best to support you and have good and regular supervision to make sure that your treatment is tailored to your needs.

Hello everyone,
This week is all about self-compassion and how to cultivate it. Please join me and discover what a magical tool it can be!

I have recently published a new article on my website that puts in evidence the healing power of self-compassion in therapy. I hope you will enjoy it x.

In a society that is so much focused on results, outcomes and progress, I often feel there is little room left to care for ourselves. It is not often that we feel aligned with our inner self, or that we feel the flow. It is now more common to struggle than to feel good- as somebody has recently said 'it looks like we live in a pandemic of anxiety, depression and burnout'.

Couple of years ago, I discovered compassion focused therapy through my clinical supervisor. Since then, I fell in love with it. I feel it translates what I want to say and it matches my therapeutic style. I always look for trainings, books and resources to make sure I use it at its best, so please get in touch if you are interested in something unusual, new and purely amazing x.

From my experience, the main reasons people hesitate to come to therapy are:

💔financial pressure
💔 lack of time
💔 stigma
💔 fear of feeling awkward
💔 pride
💔 not feeling 'sick' enough to need help

Therapy can be culturally very different perceived. And I came to witness this by working and gaining experience in different countries, with different population. This is how I realised that people sometimes find it hard to see the benefits of therapy due to fear of unknown, fear of wasting money, fear of putting themselves first, of being judged and sometimes even due to pride. But people who manage to go beyond all of those factors, people who become open enough to allow themselves to experience that vulnerable state are the ones who manage to call a therapist and book an appointment. Acting as one doesn't need therapy, it can sometimes only represent a proof of low self-confidence and fear. Fear of change...This can be a great defense mechanism and I would like to help you understand your own defense mechanisms in a different post. They can be both amazingly helpful and awfully destructive. But how!?

Spring depression.. is it a thing?
Did you know that depression can follow a reverse pattern, making us feel lower on spring? Some people might be affected by low mood and amotivation during fall and winter. However, the pressure that we should feel better with the arrival of spring can make us feel 'dark inside' despite the light outside. Moreover, the arrival of spring brings with it ....allergens. Yep, all that pollen from tree, grass, and flowers, doesn't only affect our eyes and noses. There is a significant body of research suggesting that allergies trigger inflammation in the body and we know that inflammation can worsen mood...
If you struggle with low mood or you have a child going through the same, it might help you to know that you are not alone and that with some support, you might be able to cope easier during this season.
I have recently posted an article on some effective ways you can support your teenager to go through this phase.

Supporting Your Teen: 5 Ways to Combat Depression will equip you with efficient methods to help your teen overcome depression.

I cannot wait to see it happen! Spain has recently announced its intentions to offer paid menstrual leave for women suffering from severe menstrual pain, such as endometriosis. Another reason to want to live there 😄

There are only a few countries in the world that are currently offering such benefits to women. These are : South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Zambia and Indonesia.

It would be such a step forward to bring this to Europe and encourage other european countries to eliminate stigma around menstruation xx

Well done Spain!

Only a small number of countries currently offer menstrual leave, including Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Zambia and Indonesia
