It is always a delight when Teddy comes to visit Magnolia Court Care Home. He is such a soft, gentle dog, and our residents always look forward to seeing him.

Teddy’s owner takes the time to visit residents individually in their rooms, making sure everyone has the chance to enjoy a special moment with him. These visits bring so much comfort, joy and companionship to our home.

Pet therapy is a valued part of life at Barchester Healthcare, as we recognise the important role that interaction with domestic animals can play in wellbeing. This is especially meaningful for residents who have owned dogs themselves, helping to spark happy memories and provide a sense of connection.

Today, as part of our Easter Egg Appeal, we were delighted to receive a generous delivery of Easter eggs from Nuffield Health, Hendon to add to our collection.

During Easter week, these eggs will be donated to the children’s ward at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and to Childs Hill Foodbank at All Saints' Church, Child's Hill, helping to spread a little joy in our local community.

A big thank you to Nuffield Health and its members for thinking of us and supporting these wonderful causes.

If you would like to donate, please feel free to drop an Easter egg or two into reception at Magnolia Court Care Home. Every contribution will be very gratefully received.

Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day at Magnolia Court Care Home with Guinness, friendship and traditional Irish tunes sung by Richard.

Laughter could be heard all around as everyone enjoyed our green-themed nibbles and sang along to favourites including The Wild Rover (“No, nay, never”) and Danny Boy. It was a wonderful afternoon full of music, smiles and great company.

Mother’s Day at Magnolia Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare

In Magnolia Court the morning glows,
With gentle light the springtime shows.
A special day, both bright and dear,
As Mother’s Day is celebrated here. 🌸

Soft petals bloom in colours sweet,
Arranged with care by Eve’s kind hands so neat.
Bouquets of love, both bright and fair,
Bringing fragrance and joy everywhere.

At the table, everyone did say,
Helen’s artistic expression brings colour to the day.
With every tale, a story told,
Of memories treasured, bright and bold. 🎨

Across the room, warm laughter streams,
Clare and Doreen share beautiful beams.
Their smiling faces light the room,
Like springtime sunshine chasing gloom.

And gentle joy for all to see,
A shining smile from Lan Fong so free.
A moment simple, pure and kind,
The sort of joy that stays in mind.

Then families gather, near and dear,
With hugs and voices filled with cheer.
A celebration lunch laid out with care,
With love and stories everywhere. 🍽️

Goodbye and Goodluck and don’t be a stranger

Today we said goodbye to John O'Meara who has been working at Magnolia Court Care Home since 2015. John O'Meara has been a steadfast, loving, caring and supportive mentor to many of his colleagues and has supported to home to reach significant standards.

Often known to return back to work even when he is not on shift bringing his lovely dog ‘Pon’ which gives great pleasure to the residents in the home.

His passion is ensuring that others succeed and also learn from his example and that means ‘nothing is too much’ and if he can make a difference to others lives (residents and staff) he will.

His dedication and passion in ensuring residents are treated with respect and kindness has shown in every shift he completes.

Throughout he has remembered the Values that Barchester Healthcare hold and he has followed his Barchester Healthcare journey embodying Respect, Passion, Integrity, Responsibility and Empowerment.

John O'Meara has clearly made a point of saying whilst he has decided to follow a different path, he will always be keeping contact with the home and residents and relatives which he considers his family.

Don’t be a stranger John and see you soon

Thank you for all you have done for Magnolia Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare

It is always such a lovely moment when our visiting chiropodist, Alice, comes to see us — especially when she brings her gorgeous dog, Ozzy along too.

During her visit, Valerie was completely smitten with Ozzy, and it was a joy to see the happiness he brought her. Moments like these can make such a difference and it truly brightened her day.

At Magnolia Court Care Home, we love welcoming pets into our home and regularly arrange pet therapy visits for our residents.
Valerie’s bond with Ozzy was a wonderful moment, and one we were delighted to share.

At Magnolia Court Care Home, we are committed to helping residents continue enjoying the hobbies, interests and social groups that have played such an important role in their lives. We were therefore delighted to welcome a poetry club that Helen had been a member of for many years.

Hosted in our private dining room, the gathering gave Helen the opportunity to reconnect with her poetry group in familiar company and surroundings, helping her feel as though nothing had changed. It was a pleasure for us to host the group, and we hope this will become a regular event.

Most importantly, it was wonderful to see Helen enjoying something so meaningful to her while now living in a warm, supportive and safe environment.

🍺 Cheers! Hilton Park Opens a Bar for Residents 🍹

Colleagues at Hilton Park Care Home in have come up with the genius idea of creating their own bar for their residents. What could possibly be better than a space within the home where residents can kick back, relax and enjoy a pint and a chat, exactly as if they were down at their local.

The concept for the bar came from the team who recognised the value of creating a pub-style space for residents who may not want to go out but who might still like to experience a pub setting. The team brought the idea to life, transforming the lounge into a warm and inviting space.

Staff and residents proudly celebrated the launch of the new Hilton Lounge Bar with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Residents’ Ambassadors John and Beverley and live music from vocalist, Luan.

Such a fantastic idea! 👏

👏 Barchester’s Charitable Foundation: Record-breaking 25th Anniversary Year 👏

We’re thrilled to share that Barchester’s Charitable Foundation marked its 25th anniversary with a record-breaking £424,000 raised in 2025 – the highest in its history.

Thanks to the incredible support of colleagues, supporters and corporate partners, the funding helped 262 small community groups and charities, as well as 123 individuals.

The vast majority of grants for disabled and older individuals are for mobility aids such as mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and specialist walkers, enabling people to get out and about in their local community and to take part in social activities. This type of help can be transformative to people’s day-to-day life and wellbeing, as well as giving back independence and freedom.

Grants to small community groups and local charities have been more varied, funding a broad range of activities, outings, transport, equipment and materials for older people and adults with disabilities and mental health challenges. The projects cover a very wide variety of social and educational activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, woodwork, exercise, yoga, music, sewing, theatre and dance.

A fantastic milestone! ✨
