Remember: it’s the small things that make the biggest impact.

Day in, day out, your consistency & your strength isn’t missed, it’s not a waste. It might take time to see, but you are creating safety, love and character. You mould a brand new human into someone who will one day share the kindness you offer now, day in, day out.

Keep it up 🧡💛

P.S. obsessed with these flowers

We’re all about nurturing touch here at Love Eden.

🧡💛

The great news is, you’re probably already doing it. Every time you gently change his nappy, get her dressed, bathe him, stroke her face, snuggle on the sofa, feed him, etc. - all these things contribute to daily nurturing touch which communicates tangibly to your baby that you love them.

Ashley Montague says [paraphrased], the more we learn about the effects of skin stimulation, the more incredibly significant for healthy development we find it to be.

Skin stimulation, especially from massage helps your baby’s blood flow throughout the body and lights up all these systems (and more) to work better together.

🤲🥰

As usual, the inspo for this post is from ‘Infant Massage’ by Vimala McClure.

Jess and I (Eden) were lucky enough to be able to facilitate Naomi & George on their infant massage journey. They live in Ireland so we are super thankful for technology allowing this to happen 🧡 George loves being massaged & here Naomi demonstrates one of the stomach strokes.

George has an extra chromosome and is so proud about it, you can follow his journey here ➡️

Did you know that the IAIM allows instructors to teach infant massage to parents with additional needs children up to age 7?

There are many benefits to development but as Vimala states “it is not another therapy but an opportunity to share your love”.

So many reflexes?!? Your clever little baby is designed to have these newborn reflexes to help them adapt to life outside the womb.

Some of them are more helpful like the ‘rooting reflex’ which starts when the corner of baby’s mouth is stroked or touched. Baby will turn their head and look towards the direction of stroking. This helps baby to find the bottle or breast.

Some reflexes can be confusing such as the ‘tonic neck’ or ‘fencing position’ which often finds baby facing to one side. This does not mean baby does not want to look at you, he/she is in this position to practice hand-eye coordination! They would love for you to guide them gently back to facing you and praise them for their new skills.

The infant massage programme teaches you some of the newborn reflexes you might see when interacting with and massaging your baby.

Twinkle toes ✨

Did you know the touch sense is developed as early as 8 weeks in an embryo?
It is also our first sense to develop and the one we cannot thrive without.

Your baby’s skin is the largest organ.
Baby’s are designed to receive love via their skin.

“Touching your baby, whether to feed, bathe, and change her or to cuddle, massage, and play with her, not only helps her grow but may also release endorphins, which make her happy, reduce pain, and heighten her other senses” - Vimala McClure, IAIM founder.
