We gathered on Saturday to provide a safe space and raise money for Palestine. Little did I know that Saturday would also be the day that an anti-immigration (racist) march would take place in my country of birth, my town of birth in fact! My father was invited to this country in the 60s to work as an engineer in the aviation industry - to fill a job that could not be filled. His father before him served in the British Army in India in return for a British passport - so you see, I am as British as you can be! By invitation in fact! But this march is a tactic to take our minds off the issue of genocide, to distract us, to rile us into sending energy to this, rather than what’s happening. But, we can do both, we have grown up with racism and we sure as hell can carry on protesting about Palestine at the same time. Palestine will be free 🇵🇸We will give a full and final update on the amount raised in the next few days as donations are still coming in, we are very close to the £600 mark.
