Hello friends
UPDATE WITH NEW PHOTOS
So most of the swelling was fluid that was very close to the surface. The fluid is opaque red and vast majority neutrophils (consistent with pus). So I am calling this an abscess. I did lance it and flush it. I am concerned there is some skin that looks like it might die and slough. There is some very inflamed tissue causally at the angle of the jaw as well. The fluid was slightly viscous so infected salivary gland is still a possibility.
I took dental x-rays of her entire lower mandible and I canโ€™t see anything wrong with them. As you can see she already has significant gingivitis on her recently cleaned teeth. And the extraction site of 409 does look less healed it should at this stage in my opinion.
Her temp was down to 39.6 this morning and sheโ€™s still eating fine and acting okay otherwise.
***
This dog had a stage II dental exactly a month ago. I extracted many teeth due to advanced periodontal disease on the right side (the left side was done about a month before that). All healed up fine at her recheck 2 weeks ago.
The owner texted me the first 2 pictures last night saying she noticed this oozy swelling suddenly last night. I told her to give metacam and gabapentin and come in this morning. The second 2 photos are of this morning where it has obviously swelled up significantly more overnight. The surface is oozing but there isnโ€™t an obvious hole/fistula. She has a high fever (40.2)
I did extract 402, 403, 409 and 410. The swelling does seem to be more right of midline. It is firm but not boney. The extraction sites appear still mildly inflamed but closed up and healing.
Iโ€™ve put her on clavamox and baytril and sheโ€™s coming in tomorrow morning for ultrasound, lance and flush if indicated and re-X-ray the bottom teeth/mandible to look for a culprit. I did confirm all teeth came out entirely (no roots left behind). I did not put her on antibiotics after her dental procedures.
Iโ€™ve never seen anything like this before following a dental procedure. How could I have caused this?

Can I get some advice/help?
I posted the other day about wanting some help on filling out my dental records sheets. This is the sheet we use.
We had different ones when I first started and I offered this that we got in school. I found these to be easier to read, more clear and in color. The acronym word bank is also helpful.
Today, I had a dental that was... dear Heavens. Lol. This 3yr old dog had all her toofers. Nothing missing so I had all the teeth to connect to the numbers on the sheet.
*as you can tell, I had to label my right upper/left upper and such. I'm still learning my numbers and the location of the teeth.*
My first sheet had terrible penmanship, X's and circles. So I rewrote it for the sake of LEARNING on this page.
Can you give me pointers?
Tips and tricks for the numbers?
*yes, I know about dental rads. No, I do not have the equipment for proper dental rads.
*yes, I have started some research and a PowerPoint to present to my doctors to get one.
*one girl/lady in particular on my previous post, I think her name was Sarah? Sara? I know her name started with an S. She was VERY helpful. So I pray ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคž that she sees this. Because I have more questions for you!!

I work at a cat rescue doing lots of dentals and I need help with canine extrusion in cats. What are the limits for when to extract? Iโ€™ve heard some say they extract no matter what if there is extrusion, or is there ever a time itโ€™s okay to leave the tooth for another few years? Is buccal expansion the limit (ie if I see expansion definitely take the tooth) or a certain mm amount of extrusion or are there other parameters to making the final decision?

Curious what you think this is as it threw us for a loop. 3yr old mixbreed K9, presented for an oral mass that owner noticed for a while but recently has gotten larger. Lesion does not bother the dog but owner wants to ensure nothing of concern. Lesion was soft on palpation, seems to originate from the gingiva and does not appear to invade any other structures or cause any additional defects. Our current ddx is an abscess from a FB vs gingival hyperplasia or epulis. We plan to remove and send off for histopath. Just surprised at the size and how squishy it was.

Hello dentist experts! 15yo DSH presented today for rubbing his face on the couch the last few weeks. Still eating normally according to owner. He is fractious so unable to fully examine mouth but was able to observe moderate tartar and ginigivitis and these weird black, raised bumps on the mandibular lip where the maxillary canines contact. Our team is thinking of recommending a dental with biopsy of these areas due to concern for SCC, itโ€™s just a little weird itโ€™s bilateral so wanted it make sure I wasnโ€™t having tunnel vision. Thank you!!

We had a 2 yo cat present with this a couple weeks ago. We anesthetized to do rads. Did not remove these at owers request as they were not causing any problems. Crazy right? What is the consensus on removing these? Rads were tough to get nice view but showed no issues from what we could see.

Have you ever wondered what Coca-Cola actually is?
Coca is the most valuable brand in history, and "Coca-Cola" is the second most famous word in the world for "hello". However, the drink itself is an absolute poison for the human metabolism. Very acidic, pH is only 2 points higher than battery acid. This makes it easier (and often better) to clean surfaces we usually use toxic household cleaners on.
Cheaper and easier to buy in some third world countries than drinking water. Coca-Cola uses "PR propaganda" to convince consumers and whole nations that it is an "ecological company",
For those who drink non-alcoholic beverages, for example coca-cola, the risk of heart attack and stroke is 48% higher than for people who don't drink such drinks at all, or at least don't drink them. , non-alcoholic beverages consumption may be related to lung and respiratory disorders, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (POChP).
Carbonic acid in cola causes the loss of calcium from bones in a 3-stage process:
๏ฟผCarbohydrate irritates your stomach.
๏ฟผThe stomach tries to โ€œcureโ€ irritation as best as it can, which is adding the only acidic bond it has: calcium. It runs in the blood .
๏ฟผLow-calcium blood from the bone compensates for the lack of calcium. Failure to apply it will cause serious damage to muscles and brain function.
But the story doesn't end there. Another problem with coca-cola is that it contains phosphorous acid (this is not the same as carbon dioxide mixed with phosphorous acid, which affects the storage of calcium in the body. So coca-cola softens bones 3 ways (actually making them weaker and brittle): Carbonic acid
decreases
๏ฟผlime in the bones
๏ฟผPhosphorous acid reduces calcium in bones.
๏ฟผThe beverage replaces alternatives containing calcium, such as milk or water. Milk and water are not perfect sources of calcium, but they can still be considered sources.
Esophageal cancer was very rare two generations ago, and it's common now. The basic mechanism works as follows:
๏ฟผMechanical cell damage is a huge cancer risk factor. That's why asbestos particles cause, for example, lung cancer.
๏ฟผAll non-alcoholic beverages cause gastric reflux (gastric acid is higher than a valve owy). This is much more visible when the body is in a horizontal position (during sleep), but in most cases In some cases, the amount of coke you consume and other carbonated drinks means that gastrointestinal reflux is well beyond the point Every time we drink a pleasant drink it causes a burp and thus acid I get to swallow How much is this Research doesn't reveal where the line runs, it just shows most of us are well beyond that.
๏ฟผGastric acid dissolves tissue - this is its purpose. The gastric pad is not located in the esophagus, so damage to the lower esophagus is much more common in people who drink acidic carbonated drinks than in non carbonated drinks. This causes a radical increase in cellular mutations and a significantly higher level of the free root.
So what happens to our body after drinking Coca-Cola?
After 10 minutes: There are ten tablespoons of sugar in a glass of coke, which means a devastating "blow" into the body, and the only reason you don't throw up is because of phosphorous acid which inhibits sugar.
After 20 minutes, there is a jump in the blood. Liver turns all sugar into fat.
40 minutes later: caffeine consumption is finally ending. Eyelids are dilated. Blood pressure rises when the liver brings more sugar into the bloodstream. Adenosine receptors shut down which prevents drowsiness. http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koffein )
After 45 minutes: the body increases the production of dopamine hormone, which stimulates the pleasure center in the brain. A similar reaction to he**in.
After 1 hour: Phosphorous acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in the digestive tract, additionally boosting metabolism. Calcium is released during irrigation.
Within 1 hour: the effect of the drink's urine enters "game". Together with sodium, calcium, magnesium and zinc are excreted from the body, which are components of our bones. Then we can become agile or boring. All of the water contained in the coke is released with urine.
When we drink a cold bottle of cola and enjoy its undeniable freshness, are we aware of the chemical "cocktail" we are introducing to our body? Coca-Cola's active ingredient is phosphorous acid. Due to the high acid content, containers used to transport chemicals had to be equipped with special containers designed for highly corrosive materials.
Let's take a look at the "anatomy" of Coca-Cola's best promoted product, the caffeine-free Diet Coke. This drink contains: sparkling water, E150D, E952, E951, E338, E330, aromas, E211.
Water enriched with carbon acid is carbonated water. It disrupts stomach excretion, increases gastric acid and causes bloating. First use filtered tap water.
E150D is a food coloring that is obtained by processing sugar at a certain temperature, with or without added chemical agents. Coca-Cola they add ammonium sulfate.
E952 - Sodium cycllaminate, sugar substitute. Cyclaminate is a synthetic chemical with a sweet taste, which is 200 times sweeter than sugar and is used as an artificial sweetener. It was banned by the FDA in 1969, because, along with saccharin and aspartame, it caused cancer in rats. This material was later re-legalized in a very suspicious way.
E950 - Potassium Plated 200 times sweeter than sugar, contains methyl ether. This makes the cardiovascular system more difficult. It also contains asparagus acid, which can also cause stimulating effects in our nervous system and over time lead to addiction. My acesulfe is poorly soluble and is not recommended for children or pregnant women.
E951 - Aspartame Sugar substitute for diabetics, chemically unstable at high temperatures, decomposes methanol and phenylamine. Methanol is very dangerous because it can cause 5-10 ml of optic nerve damage and irreversible blindness. In hot carbonated drinks, aspartame turns into formaldehyde, which is a very strong carcinogenic agent. Symptoms of aspartame poisoning include: fainting, headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, palpitations, body weight gain, irritability, anxiety, memory disorders, blurry vision, fainting, joint pain, depression, infertility, hearing loss, etc. Aspartame can cause the following diseases: brain tumors, SM (mixed sclerosis), epilepsy, Graves-based disease, chronic fatigue,
E338 - Phosphorous acid. This can cause skin and eye irritation. It is used for the production of ammonia salt, sodium, calcium, clay-phosphorous acid and in organic synthesis of carbon and film tapes. They are also used in heat-resistant materials, ceramics, glass, artificial fertilizers, synthetic cleaning agents, drug production, metal processing, as well as in the textile and petroleum industries. Phosphorous acid interferes with the absorption of calcium and iron in the body, which can cause bone weakness and bone mass loss. Other undesirable actions are desire and rash.
E330 - Citric acid. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Citric acid (citrate) salts are used in the food industry, for example. with acids, preservatives, as stabilizers and in medicine for blood preservation.
Aromas - Unknown Flavour Additives
E211 - Sodium benzoesan. It is used in the production of food items for antibacterial and fungicide purposes. It often happens in jams, juices and fruit yogurts. Not recommended for asthmatic and aspirin-sensitive people. A study conducted by Peter Piper (University of Sheffield, UK) found that this compound causes significant DNA damage. According to Peter, sodium benzoate, which is the active ingredient of preservatives, does not destroy DNA, but extinguishes it. This can lead to liver cramps and degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's.
If you can't imagine life without Coca-Cola, consider the following questions:
Many Coca-Cola distributors in America use this beverage to clean truck engines.
In America, many police cars have Coca-Cola bottles, and when there is a car accident, they use it to wash blood off the road.
Coca-Cola is an excellent product for removing rust stains from chrome car surfaces. To remove corrosion from your car battery, just spray coke on it and the corrosion will disappear.
To loosen the rusty screw, dip a piece of material in Coca-Cola and turn it around the screw for a few minutes.
To remove stains from clothes - pour coca-cola on dirty clothes, add detergent and turn on the washing machine as usual. You'll be surprised by the results.
Some farmers in India are using Coca-Cola as pesticides instead of pesticides, because it is cheaper and the effect is very similar.
Coca-Cola is an undeniably very useful product. The most important thing is to use it for a purpose that does not include its consumption!...
