If you have a lump on your wrist or hand, it could be that you have a ganglion cyst. Ganglion cysts are fluid filled lumps, often found near a joint or tendon, and are commonly found around the wrist and hand. Ultrasound can diagnose a ganglion cyst.

Ganglion cysts are harmless lumps and do not necessarily require treatment; some often shrink in size and resolve on their own in time.

However, some ganglion cysts can cause pain, interfere with joint movement and be unsightly if large. In these cases, ultrasound guided aspiration can be performed to drain the fluid from the ganglion cyst. A needle is first used to numb the area around the cyst followed aspiration of the fluid using a needle and syringe. Sometimes a steroid injection can also be given at the same time to help reduce inflammation and pain.

Repetitive stress injuries like tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's tenosynovitis are common in new parents due to the constant lifting and carrying of babies and young children.

If you suffer from any of these problems, a musculoskeletal soft tissue ultrasound can help in investigating the cause for your pain.

If you can see or feel a lump on your body, you should see a doctor for clinical examination. Ultrasound is then usually the first investigation of choice.

Ultrasound is a quick and painless test that can help determine what the lump is made of and its relationship to surrounding structures. Ultrasound can reliably diagnose several conditions, but sometimes further investigation is required.

The images above are of a lipoma. Lipomas are made up of fat tissue and in general are benign, harmless lumps that do not require any treatment unless they cause symptoms or cosmetic problems.

At Hinchley Medical we can offer you a lumps and bumps diagnostic package which includes both private GP and ultrasound assessment.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, and it is a procedure which uses your own blood to stimulate collagen production and improve the overall appearance of your skin. It is a non-invasive treatment that has been proven to be safe and effective.

The platelets in the plasma release growth factors that promote collagen production, which helps to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin tone. The treatment also helps to stimulate the production of new blood vessels, which can improve the overall health and vitality of your skin.

PRP skin rejuvenation is suitable for a wide range of skin concerns, including sun damage, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. It is a versatile treatment that can be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Your blood is drawn into a specialised bottle, just like when you go for a regular blood test. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. It is then drawn up into a special type of syringe via a specialised needle filter system ready to be applied to your skin.

One of the best things about PRP skin rejuvenation is that it's a natural treatment. Since we're using your own blood, there's no risk of allergic reactions or adverse side effects. The procedure is also relatively quick, with minimal downtime.

We use the mesotherapy technique to add PRP under your skin during the microneedling procedure. This allows optimal coverage and pe*******on and guarantees the best possible effects from the PRP. It can be combined with other mesotherapy products if desired.

If you are interested in trying PRP skin rejuvenation, we highly recommend consulting with a qualified and experienced practitioner at Hinchley Medical. We will be able to assess your skin and determine if PRP is the right treatment for you. We can also answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Mesotherapy and PRP

Mesotherapy is the delivery of pharmaceuticals and vitamins under the skin, into the mesodermal tissue layer. A significant advantage of microneedling is its ability to enhance the absorption of skincare products.

The tiny punctures created during the procedure allow for better pe*******on of serums, moisturisers, and other skincare products, maximizing their effectiveness. Products applied after microneedling will be able to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin, resulting in a more radiant and youthful complexion.

This makes microneedling with mesotherapy a fantastic option for those looking to improve the overall appearance of their skin and achieve a more even skin tone.
