Managing Difficult DClinPsy Feelings: November Reflective Workshop

As the DClinPsy submission period settles, many aspiring clinical psychologists find themselves navigating a complex mix of relief, uncertainty, pride, self-doubt, and exhaustion.

Our November workshop, Managing Difficult DClinPsy Feelings, offers a structured, compassionate space to pause, reflect, and regain perspective.

đź“… Saturday 22nd November 2025
⏰ 9:30am–11am
📍 Big Blue Button via the ACPsych Hub

Facilitated by Hannah Lamplough, Trainee Clinical Psychologist, this session blends theory, guided reflective practice, and peer discussion to help you make sense of the emotional aftermath of submitting your application.

You’ll explore evidence-informed ways of managing difficult feelings, reconnect with your internal resources, and leave with practical prompts to support you over the coming months.

You'll also receive a FREE copy of our Processing the Pause Workbook.

The first 5 places are free, exclusively for ACPsych mailing list subscribers. These go quickly, and they’re reserved as a thank you to our community of aspiring psychologists who engage with our work throughout the year.

If you’re not yet on the mailing list and would like early access to these places (as well as future free offers, events, and resources)

Mindfulness research (Kabat-Zinn, 1990) shows that slowing down lowers stress and improves clarity.

With three days left, take moments to pause and breathe. It will help you notice details you might otherwise miss. Our Managing DClinPsy Interview Nerves Workbook includes grounding exercises that work just as well at the application stage.

Valuing difference isn’t just a principle in clinical psychology, it’s a core competency. Diversity & Inclusion means recognising and responding to the varied backgrounds, identities, and needs of the people we work with, while also challenging barriers and inequalities in services.

For aspiring clinical psychologists, this competency can be developed in many ways:

🪶 Reflecting on your own values, biases, and privileges
🪶 Adapting assessments or interventions to meet individual needs
🪶 Using supervision to explore issues of equity and representation
🪶 Contributing to initiatives that improve accessibility or challenge discrimination

When preparing applications, go beyond describing what you did — show how you adapted your practice, what you learned, and the impact it had.

🪶 Reflection prompt: Think of a time you made a process more inclusive. What barrier did you address, how did you adapt, and what changed as a result?
