International Womenâs Day â A Personal Reflection
I never thought Iâd be a boy mum. Iâve always been such a girly girl, sharing a deep and special bond with my mother, filled with fun, love and wisdom.
I used to wonder:Â Who will I pass down my cherished jewellery too? The exquisite outfits my incredibly talented mum designed and tailored for me? (i know, quite fickle hey?!)
But over the years, Iâve come to understand that what truly matters isnât what we leave behind in things, but in the values we pass on, especially to the next generation of men.
My role as a mother isnât just about helping my boys see their own worth and strengths; itâs about shaping how they see and value the women in their lives. And that doesnât happen through words aloneâitâs in the actions we take every single day.
As many of you will know, I recently returned from a four-week overseas trip, my longest time away from my immediate familyâtravelling solo for my book launches, client work and speaking engagements.
And while I missed them, I had an absolute blast, without an ounce of mum guilt!! Can you believe it?!
Because my husband and our boys were fully on board, knowing this wasnât just my journey, but our journey as a family.
These moments matter.
They send a message to our children, especially our sons, that womenâs dreams, ambitions and contributions are important. That we can lead, create and achieve while being deeply connected to those we love.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up in a home where my parents treated my brother and me as equals, investing in our education, supporting our dreams and never placing limitations on what we could become.
I now realise how much of a privilege that was, not in terms of wealth, but in being raised with love, respect and the foundational belief that gender should never define our potential.
This is why sharing our personal stories is so powerful.
They remind us that the future is shaped by the beliefs we pass down, the behaviours we model and the narratives we choose to create.
On this International Womenâs Day, Iâm reminded of something simple but profound: A bird cannot fly with one wing alone. It takes both wingsâstrong and balanced to soar.
The same is true for humanity!
Men and women are not in competition; just like the wings of a bird, we are meant to rise together, lifting each other up, honouring each otherâs strengths and creating a world where both can thrive.
Because when we do, everyone wins.
This is to all the amazing women, boy mums, partners, husbands and incredible humans I know - who treasure the value of all human beings!
