3 Tips to Reconnect When Life is Heavy?

Basically, if your nervous system is too busy fighting fires to focus on romance. If things have felt a bit "off" lately, give yourself and your partner some grace. You aren't losing each other; you’re just overwhelmed.

1. The "Stress Vent" (No Fixing Allowed): Create a safe space to share your day for 10 minutes each. The rule? No advice-giving. Just listen and validate. When we feel heard, our stress levels drop, making room for emotional intimacy to return naturally.

2. The 20-Second "Safety" Hug: Physical touch can actually "hack" your nervous system. Research shows that a 20-second hug releases enough oxytocin to lower your heart rate and signal to your brain that you are safe. It’s the quickest way to co-regulate when you're both frazzled.

3. Swap "Grand Gestures" for "Micro-Moments": Big date nights can feel like another "to-do" when you’re burnt out. Instead, aim for 5-minute connection points. A shared morning coffee, a thoughtful text, or just sitting in the same room without phones can keep the pilot light on until the smoke clears.

Ever wondered why intimacy is the first thing to go when life gets loud? It’s not a lack of love, it’s biology. When your brain is in "survival mode" (high cortisol), it physically struggles to switch into "connection mode" (high oxytocin).

Its time to stop trying to "productivity hack" your way out of burnout and bad sleep.

We’re told to "habit stack" our way to better sleep, but you can’t optimize a body that feels under siege.

If you are drained all day but wired at night, your nervous system is stuck in a high-alert loop. Habit stacking often just adds more pressure to an already overloaded brain.

From a network of wellbeing experts who really care about your sleep, nervous system sleep support comes from

▪︎ Co-regulation: Sometimes, safety is found in a hug, a quiet conversation, or professional bodywork not a solo habit.

• Removing the "Shoulds": Safety is the permission to stop trying to "fix" yourself for five minutes. Coaching & talking therapies are amazing tools here!

• Physical Comfort: Safety is a weighted blanket, a dark room, or a cold compress signals that tell your system it’s okay to stand down. Online somatic or yin classes before bed = strong sleep winner

You don't need more habits; you need to lower the pressure.

Are you in the "tired but wired" club? We are here to help you sleep (and wake up rested)

Maybe he doesn't know what burnout really means?

Hopefully thats the case and hes not purposely spilling these narratives out into a world...

Lets be very clear, chronic stress and burnout are not isolated to workplaces or "lack of purpose"

We consistently see stressors such as housing / cost of living, family or relationship tensions, time scarcity, health issues, financial worries, grief & loss, carer responsibilities (the list goes on) contributing to a state or risk of burnout

"having purpose and telling yourself you aren't stressed" is most definitely NOT recommended support or advice from us, the experts

Yes the power of positive mindset and habits are amazing tools but there are many realities we must acknowledge and stop blaming people for not "thinking their way out of" it

Ongoing stress and overwhelm are felt in the brain, body, and our energy

Its real, its science and it deserve the right support

we'd love to share some research with you if you're open to expanding your knowledge on the matter, enjoy the surf 🌊
