B Vitamins come on let’s learn!

Vitamin B helps the body in a variety of ways. For one, it helps to convert food into energy. Vitamin B is also important for the health of your blood cells, skin, eyes and hair. Additionally, it helps to make hormones that regulate your mood.

There are eight different types of Vitamin B. These include thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, folate, vitamin B-6 and vitamin B-12. Each type of Vitamin B performs its own specific functions in the body.

Thiamin, or Vitamin B1, helps muscles and nerves work properly and keeps your heart healthy. Riboflavin (B2) helps break down carbohydrates, fat and proteins in the foods you eat. Niacin (B3) helps your body produce energy from carbohydrates and helps regulate cholesterol levels in your blood.

Pantothenic acid (B5) helps your body break down food into energy and helps make hormones. Biotin (B7) helps metabolize proteins, fats and carbohydrates from food. Folate (B9) is essential for making red blood cells. Vitamin B6 and B12 are both important for making hemoglobin which allows red blood cells to carry oxygen to all the cells in your body.

Including adequate amounts of Vitamin B in your diet is an important part of staying healthy.
