Practicing with ease and strength
In yoga philosophy, we often talk about the balance of sthira and sukha — steadiness and ease. Our shoulders are a perfect place to explore this idea. They work hard to support us, to help us carry, reach, and hold. But when steadiness tips into gripping, ease is lost. Through mindful movement and breath, we can remind the body that support doesn’t have to mean strain.
We’ll use slow, warming movements, gentle stretches, and conscious breathing to encourage the shoulders to soften and melt. As we do, you might notice not just physical relief, but a subtle emotional shift too — a sense of letting go of what you don’t need to carry right now.
As the weather turns colder, many of us begin to notice a familiar pattern: shoulders creeping up towards the ears, jaws tightening, arms holding on just a little more than they need to.
Cold invites contraction — we hunch against the wind, brace ourselves, and often carry that tension long after we’ve come back indoors.
Join us in class this week where we’ll focus on creating space, warmth, and ease in this area that so often carries the weight of our days.
