How do I use Hypopressives to improve a Daistasis?
To me it is crucial that in apnea we are tensioning the Linea Alba.. and to do that your apnea needs good rib cage opening.
On re-centre I also use some specific Pilates for Diastasis and more recently some weight training too.
And that’s just it, it’s the specific training that is needed postpartum, and not just what you did before babies that is going to bring function back to the core.
Breathing mechanics are crucial here, what does that mean?

🙅🏻‍♀️Belly tension
🙅🏻‍♀️upper ab gripping

🙌Diaphragmatic Breathing
🙌Hypopressives
🙌 Pilates done with good Abdominal engagement
🙌 focusing on the movement at the back of the rib cage in an apnea, to encourage 360 movement and not a rib flare if one is present.

It’s been almost a year since I started Hypo-Strong on .centre and it has been the most rewarding addition to my platform.
I saw the problem and I decided to jump in, to help my members who were scared to lift find a way to protect their bones🦴 whilst not jeopardising the symptom improvement they have had from Hypopressives..
Not only has that happened, members are reporting even more improvement in symptoms, and my Hypo-Strong classes are now my most popular. I can feel in myself that lifting brings more confidence in your body and a real sense of being proactive in aging… going to a hotel gym this half term was a moment for me, because I know I would not have done this a year ago!!
So here’s to finding ways to move forward, to trying new things and being surprised when they go even better than expected! 💛

For a long time I have thought of running a retreat that is more than time away to refresh, I wanted to curate a space where deeper healing, focused practice and 1:1 postural work can happen.

What I do feel frustrated about is that while I know I have helped many women, I know I can help many more, and that feels like my 46th year mission!
I meet too many women that think that they need to put up with their body not functioning properly.. and I’m not ok with that!

Reflecting on 6 years of .centre
We started in the depths of a Covid lockdown and it still amazes me what came of that time, and how it has grown!
Thank you dearly to all my members and to everyone who has shaped me, trusted me, pushed me to find answers, and helped me reach more women.
My driving force has always been sharing this work as accessibly as possible.
