the reality is, habit and routine forming is a slow process of trial and error

and we will inevitably fall out of balance from time to time.

but this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with us

just that we are human beings.

the international student experience is a challenge…

even though it may appear perfect to friends and family back home, being an international student has unique obstacles

we are required to balance extra work commitments, meet family expectations, and adapt to an entirely new sociocultural context

these extra factors can impact our academic work, sense of safety, and connection with our wider campus community

still, it is important that we find strength in the achievement of simply being here

this is an experience that most will not understand, but in time we will be rewarded for our dedication and hard work

the international student experience is often underrepresented

adapting to new cultural environments, whilst also balancing...

work commitments, family expectations, and homesickness, requires constant effort

this can leave us feeling overwhelmed and sometimes lonely

it’s important that we recognise the significance of simply being here, outside of our comfort zone

it’s not always as easy or fun as it may appear

but in time we will be rewarded for our dedication and hard work
