Uganda High Commission, London on Friday held a farewell reception for the outgoing High Commissioner, Julius Peter Moto at the International Maritime
Organization Premises in London.
The event was attended by Senior Officials from the UK government, Ireland, Heads of Missions and staff, UK Business executives and the Ugandan Community, bringing together over 200 guests.
In his remarks, Amb. Moto expressed gratitude to the Governments of UK and Ireland, Heads of Mission, staff and the Ugandan Community for the enormous support rendered to him during his tenure.
The High Commission said, Ambassador Moto
"acknowledged in particular the strong working relations with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as well as with Lord Dolar Popat, Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Uganda, DC and Rwanda."
Lord Popat commended Amb Moto for his "outstanding efforts" which he said had resulted in significant increase of trade between Uganda and UK, with the latter now having an investment portfolio worth over Β£1
billion in Uganda.
He highlighted on-going key projects including Hoima international airport, agri-business, infrastructure in Namanve industrial park, solar energy and bulk grain storage and processing, which have received funding from UK Export Finance commitment of up to Β£2 billion.
