🌹 Honoring Remembrance Day Across Our Homes 🌹

From the beginning of November, our homes have come together to honour and remember those who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Each home has created its own special moments to commemorate Remembrance Day, inspired by the wishes, memories, and reflections of our residents.
From art projects crafted with care, to hosting memorial services and joining community events, our teams and residents have proudly paid tribute to the heroes who gave everything.

As we gather in unity, we’re reminded that the courage and sacrifices of those who served will never be forgotten. Lest we forget.

World Alzheimer's Awareness Month: Spotlight on Namaste Care at RCH Care Homes

As part of our ongoing series for World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, we are excited to share the development of Namaste Care within our homes—a unique approach that truly honours the spirit within. Namaste Care is all about making a deep connection with our residents, focusing on their inner selves rather than just their physical condition.

Through 1:1 sensory sessions, held in our specially designed Namaste Therapy Rooms, we provide a holistic, therapeutic experience that brings peace, calm, and comfort—especially for residents living with dementia or those in palliative care.

Our Namaste Therapy Rooms feature:
Special mood lighting
Zen-inspired music
Calming visuals, like waterfalls
Aromatherapy with scents such as Sandalwood to enhance wellbeing and memory support

During these sessions, residents enjoy warm towels, soothing hand and foot massages, and snug blankets to create feelings of security. Drinks and snacks are also offered to support hydration and nutrition, while additional therapies like Reiki and Yoga complement the sensory experience.
This year, our homes in Essex participated in Namaste Therapy training, conducted by Essex County Council. Our dedicated team members learned to integrate Namaste Care into their daily routines, improving the quality of life for residents, particularly those with advanced dementia. The training addressed key aspects of Namaste Care, including sensory-based therapeutic interventions, like massage and touch therapy, and how to sustain and evolve the program within our homes. Namaste Care isn’t just about physical comfort—it’s about connecting with the resident on a deeper, emotional level. These sessions leave our residents feeling at peace, calm, and truly cared for.

We’re proud to share that our incredible teams at Manton Heights Care Centre, Romford Care Home and Orchard House Care Home celebrated 999 Emergency Services Day in their local communities of Bedford, Romford, and Wisbech!
Residents and staff from Orchard House and Manton Heights visited their local emergency and non-emergency service teams, delivering thoughtful Hero Hampers filled with treats and handwritten notes from residents. While Romford Care Home celebrated by inviting Romford Fire Brigade for tea! It was a heartfelt way to show appreciation to those who tirelessly support us all.

The Bedford Ambulance Crew shared their gratitude: ā€œThank you, it makes a big difference to be appreciated in this way. It was lovely to get the hampers, especially the handwritten notes from the residents.ā€

Driven by the ideas and enthusiasm of our residents, this initiative was brought to life by our dedicated teams, and we couldn’t be prouder. These moments highlight the strong community spirit that thrives in each of our homes. Let’s continue to celebrate the everyday heroes in our communities!

It’s Carers Week and this year’s theme is, ā€˜Putting Carers on the Map. We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the millions of carers across the UK who play a significant role in the lives of those they care for. Days like these are important to recognise their significance and let all carers know they are appreciated and valued.

At RCH Care Homes we champion carers throughout the year though our own community outreach initiatives such as Dementia Cafes, Warm Hubs, Coffee Mornings and Company Cafes. Offering loved ones, families and carers in the community companionship, resources, and advice. Additionally, we are committed to hosting awareness campaigns and wellbeing activities designed to support both our carers and those within the wider community.

Thanks to initiatives like Carers Week, carers will continue to receive the recognition they deserve.
Here’s to all the incredible carers in the UK and around the world.

Embracing the Power of Innovative Technology for Holistic Wellbeing.
At RCH Care Homes, we believe in harnessing the power of innovative technology to enhance the emotional and physical wellbeing of the residents within our homes. Over the past three years, we have integrated technologies like Motitech Bikes and Virtual Reality Head Sets into our daily activities, promoting a more engaging and fulfilling lifestyle for our beloved communities. These tools not only bring joy and smiles to residents but also contribute to their overall health and happiness. Importantly it's vital that our teams understand how to use the technology and it's benefits. Here are the team from Romford Care Home receiving their training on using the motitech bikes.
