People with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) may feel tired, depressed and gain weight; whilst symptoms of an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) include difficulty sleeping, palpitations, feeling weak, an enlarged thyroid gland or weight loss.

Our thyroid function tests assess the health of your thyroid by measuring the level of hormones in your blood that are released by the thyroid gland – thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3) – as well as the level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) released by the pituitary gland. In this extended thyroid test, two thyroid autoantibodies (TPO and TG) will also be checked for any abnormalities.
