We had a delightful picnic in the garden last week, beautifully decorated for the occasion. All the residents enjoyed it, especially with the bubble machine providing some sensory experiences. A big thank you to the entire team for making it such a wonderful afternoon.

We celebrated World Coconut Day with delicious coconut treats and passed around the fruit to feel its texture. We finished the day with "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts."

Our residents were treated to wonderful accordion playing this week from the amazing Talia. Talia has years of experience playing the accordion in care homes. Our resident Sheila said, “Talia was fantastic, she had our residents singing along”. The activity seemed to be a trip down memory lane as the music being played was pre and post-war songs. Everyone had a wonderful time, thank you, Talia!

National Wine Day was celebrated earlier this month, and we were delighted to mark the occasion with a wine tasting following lunch. Our chef prepared a wonderful assortment of food for the residents, who had the opportunity to sample a variety of wines. For those who don't consume alcohol, there were options like lemonade and non-alcoholic wines. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

Playing darts is a sociable activity that helps retain hand-eye coordination and encourages communication amongst players, whilst helping to keep older people active. Our residents from Aspray House liked the game, they were laughing so much when throwing the ball and hitting the target. It was heart-warming to watch!

We were delighted to host the talented singer Johnny Parrish at our care home this month. Johnny brought the golden era of 50’s and 60’s back to life with his exceptional performance. His interactive show was a hit amongst our residents, who thoroughly enjoyed his engaging presence. Johnny not only played his guitar with remarkable skill but also took special requests, serenading our residents with their favourite tunes. It was a day filled with joyful music and cherished memories.

Our Story..

Aspray House was originally built over 16 years ago and has been established as a care home since 2004. Over the years, Aspray House has been renovated to a high standard with all rooms having en-suite facilities and is home for up to 64 residents based on 4 units built with light and airy rooms, creating a relaxed, peaceful and restful atmosphere.

We value the importance of ensuring that not just the care needs of each resident are met, but also their social, cultural, religious, spiritual and psychological needs as well. We actively encourage our residents to be fully involved, wherever possible, with their own care-planning using a fully holistic approach.

We believe that individual stimulation is fundamental to quality care and we employ dedicated Activities Coordinators to organise a full weekly programme full of activities which include arts and crafts, bingo, light exercises and fruit/dessert trolley parades in the afternoons.
