Over the past few years, we’ve had the privilege of supporting many people working across the creative industries and one thing has become increasingly clear.

While careers in this industry can be incredibly rewarding, they can also be isolating, precarious and emotionally demanding.

Freelance work, financial uncertainty, long hours, and the constant pressure to perform can make it difficult for people to stay connected with others or prioritise their own wellbeing.

Many people are navigating these pressures feeling far more alone than they should and that’s why we’ve been developing something new.

On 31 March, we will officially launch the Creative Industries Community — a supportive network designed to bring people working across the sector together.

The aim is to create a space where members can:

• connect with other people
• share experiences
• access wellbeing support that understands working in this industry
• take part in workshops, peer groups and wellbeing activities

Membership is FREE and now open ahead of the launch.

If you work in the creative industries and this resonates with you, you are very welcome to join the community.

And if you know someone who might benefit from being part of this community, please feel free to share it with them.

Today we celebrate the women who create, lead, perform, design, produce and sustain the creative industries. Happy International Women’s Day!

Working in the creative industries can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also bring unique pressures. Many women face challenges including discrimination, harassment, unequal pay and balancing demanding careers with other responsibilities.

Experiences like these can take a real toll on mental health and supporting the wellbeing of women across our industry has never been more important.

At Wellbeing in the Arts, our aim is simple: to provide a safe, confidential space where women can talk openly, be heard, and feel supported.

If you are struggling with your mental health and wellbeing, please do reach out.

Over the past few years, we have had the privilege of supporting more than 2,500 people working in the creative industries, delivering over 10,000 sessions of counselling and coaching along the way.

Behind these numbers are individuals who have trusted us with some of the most challenging moments in their lives, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has reached out for support.

People from across the sector have accessed our service — including those working in theatre, film, television, music, literature, fashion and architecture — reflecting the shared pressures that can come with working in creative environments.

The issues people bring to their sessions are wide-ranging and deeply personal. They often include anxiety, burnout, depression, neurodiversity, bullying and harassment, addiction, trauma, and thoughts of su***de. Our role is not to judge, but to provide a safe and supportive space where people can talk openly and begin to find a way forward.

Because our service is designed specifically for the creative industries, every Counsellor and Coach we work with understands the unique challenges of working in this sector.

Through our service, sessions can be arranged around your personal and professional commitments, making it easier to access support when you need it most.

We are also able to offer support without waiting lists, so people can usually be connected with a Counsellor or Coach quickly.

Confidentiality is fundamental to everything we do. Your engagement with us remains completely private, and no information is shared without your consent — including with your employer.

If you are struggling with your mental health or wellbeing, please remember that you are not alone.

Support is available, and reaching out can be the first step towards feeling better.

We offer competitive rates of pay, fully remote online delivery, and flexible session allocation designed to complement established private practice work.

If you are interested in joining our team, please contact us at practitioners@wellbeinginthearts.org.uk, outlining your background, experience and how you meet our key criteria.

It is becoming harder and harder to get a NHS diagnosis for ADHD (an issue that affects a lot of people in the creative industries), with some services even shutting their doors to new patients.

A BBC investigation finds that a host of areas in England are closing waiting lists and others are rationing care.
