It’s expected that family and friends visit soon after a baby is born.

While this comes from a place of love and wanting to celebrate, it can also feel overwhelming for a new mother who is still healing — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

support systems are important, but support also means protecting space for the mother to rest, recover, and bond with her baby and partner. The early days of parenthood are tender and transformative, and sometimes the best gift we can give a new family is patience, understanding, and the grace of time.

The hardest part of postpartum has been the guilt I carry for not being there for you like I did before!
