A new face behind the counter, but a heart for community! 💛
We’re thrilled to introduce Angelina, our new café manager. Read below a short Q&A to hear what drives them, and why they already love being part of Mahaba.
- How did your background prepare you for this role?
Before joining Mahaba, I spent 1.5 years working with Change Please — a brilliant social enterprise that supports people experiencing homelessness by training them in barista skills and helping them get back into employment. I managed four coffee shops and helped organise events, which taught me so much about balancing great coffee with a greater purpose. That experience really shaped my approach to running a café that’s not just about what’s in the cup, but who’s behind the counter. ☕💛
- What made Mahaba feel like the right fit?
Mahaba is local — and so am I! I’m a proud Ealing resident, living in Ealing Common, and I’ve always loved the sense of community here. When I discovered Mahaba, I was really inspired by the passion and purpose behind the project, and by the amazing people who bring it to life every day. I knew straight away that I wanted to be part of it — to give back to the community I care about, and to help grow something truly meaningful.
- What’s been your favourite moment so far?Seeing our learners succeed is by far the most rewarding part of the job. Right now, I work with Harrison on Mondays and Tuesdays — he started as a learner and is now our part-time barista. Watching him grow in confidence has been amazing. One of my favourite moments was seeing him pour his first latte art heart — such a small thing, but a huge milestone. It’s moments like that that remind me why Mahaba matters. 💛
-What do you hope guests feel when they walk in?
I hope people feel welcomed, comfortable, and part of something special. Mahaba isn’t just a coffee shop — it’s a space where everyone belongs. Whether you’re popping in for your morning coffee or staying a while, I want guests to feel the warmth of the team, the care behind the project, and the sense that their visit is helping create real opportunities for others. Good coffee, good vibes, and a good cause — that’s the goal.
