The Portuguese Society for Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SPACV) is proud to join the global 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗔𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔 campaign – a worldwide movement saving lives by raising awareness of Aortic Dissection, a frequently fatal emergency when not recognised in time.

👉 Unexplained severe pain? 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗔𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔

Pain can be sudden, tearing, in the chest, back or abdomen. If suspected, CT Angiography is the definitive diagnostic test.

September is Aortic Dissection Awareness Month. The life-saving THINK AORTA campaign has launched a new downloadable "mythbuster" resource, to tackle old thinking about the disease among frontline clinicians and improve patient safety.

Those of us who have experienced Aortic Dissection - as a survivor, a carer, a relative or as a bereaved family member - know the value of having someone you can count on who stands in your corner. It's what gets you through and inspires you to keep moving forward, no matter what.

This applies to non-profit organisations too. The global, patient-led THINK AORTA campaign draws on the strength of many trusted partners around the world. We thank our North American friends for their collaboration during Aortic Dissection Awareness Week. We are stronger and have greater impact when we work together. ❤️

Great to see leading Vascular & Cardiothoracic Surgeons talking about at a packed Edinburgh Aortic Summit at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh today.

Mr. Marcus Brooks from North Bristol NHS Trust, President Elect of the Vascular Society and Mr. Michael Sabetai from Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Chair of the UK Aortic Society both emphasised the importance of multidisciplinary specialist teams that know how to in providing optimum patient care in .
