Did you know that bowel cancer screening could save your life?

We’ll be hosting an in-person workshop on Thursday 25th September 13:30-15:30 at the SW9 Learning Centre in Brixton.

The Bowel Cancer Screening Team at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will share everything you need to know about bowel cancer screening - from receiving your test kit, to completing it and receiving your results. We’ll also hear a patient’s experience of screening and have a discussion with a GP about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer to look out for.

Meet Alex! She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and was later advised to start hormone (or endocrine) therapy to reduce the risk of the cancer returning.

We recently teamed up with a group of breast cancer patients, including Alex, and animation students at the London College of Communications, UAL: University of the Arts London,to develop a series of public health animations.

The animations – which are narrated by Alex and the group of patients - aim to educate breast cancer patients about the benefits of hormone (or endocrine) therapy and empower them to seek support when it comes to managing side effects.

Did you know that 80% of breast cancer patients in the UK are recommended hormone (or endocrine) therapy before or after surgery?

The treatment - which involves a daily oral tablet - can reduce the risk of the cancer returning but it can lead to significant side effects that impact a patient's quality of life.

We’ve developed a series of animations with the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London that reflect the experiences of a group of breast cancer patients on hormone therapy. The animations aim to help other patients to feel less isolated and empower them to seek support when it comes to managing side effects.

We've teamed up with local breast cancer patients and animation students at UAL: University of the Arts London to develop a series of public health animations.

The animations aim to support breast cancer patients to understand the benefits of hormone (or endocrine) therapy and empower them to seek support when it comes to managing side effects.

Although the treatment can reduce the risk of the cancer returning it can lead to significant side effects that impact patients’ daily lives.

If you or someone you know is starting or struggling with treatment and would find like to understand more about the side effects and how to access support, watch our animations here:

Tomorrow we will join the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation to deliver a letter to 10 Downing Street, calling on the government to keep lung cancer screening on the national agenda.

Lung Cancer Screening looks at how well a person’s lungs are working and can help diagnose lung cancer as early as possible, potentially before symptoms appear, which can improve treatment outcomes.
