💜 A key takeaway from the Her Game Too International Women’s Day webinar:

Talent alone isn’t enough.

Whether in sport or business, people need the right environment to perform, grow, and stay.

And that environment is shaped by:
👉 culture
👉 support systems
👉 psychological safety

At Melp Co, we see the impact of this every day.

When organisations invest in mental health and wellbeing:
✔ engagement increases
✔ retention improves
✔ performance becomes sustainable

The message couldn’t be clearer — if we want better outcomes, we have to invest in people.

Brilliant to be part of such an important conversation 👏

📈💚 The best wellbeing strategies are not reactive. They are preventative.

CIPD’s 2025 research found that mental ill health is the top cause of long-term sickness absence, while 64% of organisations reported stress-related absence in the last year. It also found that heavy workloads are the leading cause of stress-related absence, yet only half of organisations taking steps to reduce workplace stress believe those efforts are effective. ()

That tells us something important:
many employers know there is a problem, but they still need a solution that is practical, engaging and works in the real world. Buyers are looking for support that improves culture, helps managers, supports retention, reduces absence and shows employees that their wellbeing genuinely matters. ()

That’s where Melp Co comes in. We support organisations with preventative mental health and wellbeing solutions designed to help employees earlier, not just when they hit crisis point. Education, training, tools, ongoing support and a more joined-up approach — because healthier teams perform better. ✨ ()

💼🧠 Poor mental health is not just a people issue — it’s a business issue too.

In Great Britain, 964,000 workers were suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2024/25, and 22.1 million working days were lost to those issues alone. Deloitte also estimates that poor mental health costs UK employers £51 billion a year, with presenteeism — people working while unwell and performing below their best — the biggest contributor.

For employers, that can look like:
low morale, rising absence, poor retention, burnout, reduced productivity, and managers trying to hold teams together without the right tools. The question is no longer whether businesses should support mental health — it’s whether they can afford not to.

At Melp Co, we help businesses take a more proactive approach with mental health and wellbeing support that is practical, preventative and accessible — from education and onboarding through to tools employees can actually use in real life. Because when your people are better supported, your business is stronger too. 💚

They ripple into:
👉 Families
👉 Relationships
👉 Women & children

📊 Su***de rates in construction are among the highest of any industry in the UK

This is why supporting mental health matters beyond the workplace.

💜 I recently joined an incredible panel for an International Women’s Day webinar hosted by Her Game Too — and it highlighted something we see every day in our work.

Gender equality in sport (and in the workplace) isn’t just about opportunity — it’s about support.

When individuals don’t feel supported mentally, emotionally, or psychologically, performance, confidence, and long-term engagement all suffer.

At Melp Co, we work with organisations to change that.

Because creating high-performing environments means:
✔ supporting mental health proactively
✔ understanding the pressures individuals face
✔ and building cultures where people can genuinely thrive

The theme really resonated — because meaningful change requires investment, intention, and action.

A huge thank you to the team and fellow panellists for such an important and honest conversation 👏

If we want better outcomes — in sport or business — we have to build better support systems.

👷♂️🧠 Mental health in construction is not just a wellbeing issue — it’s a safety issue.

The industry is facing a serious challenge:

Around 500 construction workers die by su***de every year in the UK
The su***de rate in construction is estimated to be around 3x higher than the national average

But this is only part of the picture.

💭 Poor mental health doesn’t just lead to crisis…
It shows up on site every single day as:
❌ Fatigue and lack of sleep
❌ Stress, anxiety, depression
❌ Distraction and reduced focus
❌ Increased alcohol or substance use

And in high-risk environments, that can mean one thing:
👉 accidents, injuries, and lives at risk

If someone is exhausted, overwhelmed, or not mentally present, it impacts:

Their safety
Their team’s safety
The entire site

💚 At Melp Co, we support construction businesses with practical, preventative mental health support that fits real working environments — helping teams stay safe, supported, and able to perform at their best.

Because mental health isn’t separate from safety.
👉 It’s a critical part of it.
