👉🏼As much as you might try to deny it, you most likely have a natural tendency to put other people’s needs ahead of your own.
👉🏼Whether it’s staying late at work to finish a project or skipping lunch to run errands…
👉🏼You probably often sacrifice your own wellbeing in order to meet the demands of others: kids, family, work, friends etc.
👉🏼However, you need to do a better job of putting your own well-being higher on your “to do” list.

➡️Last week wasn’t my best to say the least…
➡️Faced obstacles in my business, have unexpected expenses and experienced episode of acute back pain which completely thrown me out of balance…
➡️Although I’ve been struggling with chronic back pain for over two decades, those acute episodes can be extremely debilitating and have very negative effect on my mental health (they also prevent me from training properly and training is a huge outlet for my mental health)
➡️I could have focused on the negative.. but instead…
✅I engaged in some very gentle movement (although not without the struggle): walks & yoga…
✅I chosen to teach my classes (not without help of painkillers - that I rarely restore to) as I totally love it and it gives me so much positive energy!…
✅I still indulged in self care…
✅I enjoyed the weather, the food and the company of the people I love!
➡️We weren’t promised the life without adversity and although I’m not invalidating feeling low, sad, stressed etc. focusing on negativity when things don’t go our way never helps…
✅Focus on what you can control and remember that nothing, even the worst situation and experience lasts forever…

If you nourishing your body with whole foods instead of feeding it junk, that makes you bloated and sluggish, you feel better!
If you stick to daily movement, that not only affects your body but also releases endorphins in your brain, you feel better!
If you get fair amount of restful sleep, you feel better!
If you speak kindly to yourself, keep promises to yourself, practice gratitude and fill your mind with positive thoughts, you feel better!
Take couple minutes every day and say out loud (or in your mind) positive words about yourself and your body, choose words that resonate with you and repeat them daily!

I made a plea to myself to spend as much time outside, in nature and soaking in sunlight, as possible and it has such an enormous impact on my energy and mood!
Daily sunlight exposure (safe of course) and spending time outdoors, especially in green spaces, such as fields, forests, parks and gardens can help reduce risk of mental health problems, positively impact your gut microbiome, improve your mood and increase feeling of satisfaction!

Put emphasis on ENJOY!!!
Overthinking and stressing about what you can or cannot eat, can do more harm than actual food itself!
Just make sure you drink more water than sodas (and/or alcohol).
Eat more fibre than refined carbs.
Go for nice, long walks after your meals.
And surround yourself with people who love you back!

How to keep your gut happy while travelling:
👉🏼Don’t overeat
Part of the fun of vacationing is eating at new restaurants and trying new foods.
That may include more processed foods, and it’s easy to overeat in this setting.
Overeating stretches the stomach, and puts extra stress on your digestive system especially if it’s already fragile.
👉🏼Eat plenty of fiber
To keep your bowel movements regular, try to eat as much fiber as you would normally eat at home.
The best sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and beans.
Stick to cooked vegetables and peeled fruits to reduce your risk of foodborne illness.
👉🏼Drink lots of water
Dehydration is another major cause of constipation, so drinking lots of water while vacationing is a must.
Find out if the water is safe to drink and stick to bottled water if there is any question about its safety.
Avoid ice cubes in places where the water isn’t safe.
Contaminated water can seriously disrupt the gut.
👉🏼Limit alcohol & caffeine
Overconsumption of drinks that contain lots of sugar, caffeine or alcohol irritates GI system, especially if you have sensitive stomach.
Coffee and alcohol speed up digestion, meaning there is less time for the intestines to absorb water and nutrients and causing diarrhoea.
👉🏼 Get groceries from local stores
To give your stomach a rest from restaurant and processed foods, buy fresh food from local markets and cook at your accommodation if you can.
This is great way to learn another culture, save money, and take break from eating out.
Eating at home is always better for digestive health than eating out.
👉🏼Avoid skipping going to the bathroom
While having a bowel movement in a public restroom or shared hotel room might make you uncomfortable, don’t ignore urge to use the toilet.
It will cause irregular bowel movements, constipation and gut discomfort.
👉🏼 Wash your hands before eating
Wash hands thoroughly before eating with soap and water to avoid spreading germs.

Overconsumption of processed food, alcohol and sugar

👉🏼Controversial opinion but there’s big difference between fitness and wellness approach to your well-being.
👉🏼Fitness approach mostly focuses on how you look, not necessarily how you feel, even if ‘looking your best’ comes at expenses of your health, mental well-being, ruining your relationship with food and you feeling like crap a lot.
👉🏼Constant calorie counting, body measurements, staying in deficit for extended period of time, eating ‘whatever you like’ as long as you stay in said deficit, taking high dose caffeine supplements, intense training programmes etc. take toll not just on your physical, especially hormonal health but also on your mental state.
✅When it comes to wellness the main goal is to improve how you feel: how much energy do you have throughout the day, do you have a healthy appetite but not ravenous or constantly craving sugar, is your digestion good, do you have healthy, clear, glowing skin, strong nails, healthy, shiny hair, do you sleep well and how well rested you are after your sleep, is your period painless and PMS free, how’s your libido, your mood and zest for life in general.
👉🏼The weight of your body, especially how lean you are isn’t the main focus as sadly in many cases being at your leanest goes hand in hand with being at your most miserable.
✅Wellness approach offers sustainable ways to weight loss by focusing on and applying health improving habits nutrition, lifestyle and exercise wise.

Yet, ironically my own lifestyle was far from healthy!!!
I’ve been working up to 16h, surviving on several coffees & energy drinks a day‼️
Overtraining, skipping meals, totally lacking sleep…
Suffering from debilitating eczema flare ups, ignoring severe bloating and stomach cramps, and my anxiety and stress levels were off the roof😞

For the longest of time (around 7 years) I have suffered from hair loss, dryness, breakage and frizz.
My hair were totally unruly, dull and lacked lustre…
