This is what happened to me, maybe you can relate.

I’ve had two pregnancy, both finished with a C-section. And especially after the second one, I had a really hard time recovering. Something shifted. Or rather, something stayed off. After two serious abdominal surgeries my belly didn’t feel like a part of me anymore. I had this profound sense of disconnection. To add to the physical issues, I was really unhappy with the way these births went and what happened to me. I didn’t want to touch my scar or relate to is in any way.

It took many months, years, to truly feel at home in my body again. In my yoga practice at the beginning I couldn’t do things that were a breeze before that. Simple things – like stepping forward from downward dog. It was as if my brain was sending the signal but the wires were cut. Slowly, I came back but even now I am well aware that my belly will never be the same.

In a way, it’s easy to understand why a C-section causes a disconnect. But this “loss of centre” happens after natural births too. It happens because of pregnancy in the first place. While carrying a baby our centre of gravity shifts, organs are pushed away in all directions to make space in a tight cavity, muscles are separated and underused.. It’s a sudden expansion followed by an abrupt emptiness. It’s intense.

And when the baby comes the mum is basically forgotten.

For a long time, I was living in a body that felt a bit like a stranger. Yoga helped but it took me a while to realise that I didn’t just need more time or more movement. I needed to reconnect with my centre on a visceral, energetic level.

Now that I have discovered the practice of Chi Nei Tsang, I feel this is the bridge I never had. Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) is a Taoist abdominal massage that works directly with the internal organs. It is a modality I’ve found that can address the ‘hollowed out’ feeling and help us start to feel our bellies after birth.

Now, I offer this work to help other mothers skip the years of disconnection I went through. I want to help you ‘re-inhabit’ your body, not in years, but in weeks.

Nowadays, we often learn sitting down in a room or through digital screens. Massage cannot be learned like that, it's an oral and physical tradition. It is passed from skin to skin and heart to heart.

I have been studying with multiple teachers since I started my exploration of Thai yoga massage. But all of them have studied with the same person. He is the initial source of Thai massage knowledge in the West. His name is Asokananda (Harald Brust) and he was a leading pioneer in the revival of Thai Traditional massage in Thailand in the late 80’s.

The school that he found in a remote Lahu village in Northern Thailand is still there, still spreading the knowledge and the Metta - the loving kindness of this practice. Being in that place shifted something for me.

In Eastern traditions, the connection to one’s lineage is sacred. In Thailand there is a deep emphasis on Wai Khru - the ceremony of paying gratitude to the teachers who came before us. We, Western people, often forget this.

It may sound cliché, but this journey to the Lahu village reminded me that I am part of something much larger than myself. No matter how it sounds, that feeling of belonging is powerful. It is a potent source of strength and inspiration, and my practice has felt completely transformed since I returned.

It's cold and miserable outside but it's cosy and warm inside.

I am giving treatments every day now in my lovely home studio.
Thai massage is a favourite as always, especially with the added oil on the back, neck and shoulders. This is my most popular treatment. It's a treat!

My new offer Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage has a reduced introductory price until the end of the month so don't hesitate to book it too! You will be surprised by the difference it makes.

So when I say we do some somatic movement in my yoga classes, what exactly do I mean?
What is somatic movement?

- This is a movement that looks for Internal focus over external form.
The movements are not aiming for large ranges, ideal shapes, or “correct” postures. They invite sensing: weight, contact with the chair, breath, ease, and transition.

- It means slow, continuous, low-effort motion
The pace allows the nervous system to track what’s happening. This is key: somatic movement happens at a speed the brain can learn from.

- Self-regulation Is key rather than instruction-heavy correction
There’s space for the person to adjust, pause, or soften rather than being pushed toward a goal.

- Somatic movement has functional, everyday orientation
Sitting, spiralling, bending, and returning upright mirror daily movements (getting up, turning, orienting), which is a hallmark of somatic work.

In short, this type of movement is simple and pleasant, prioritises felt sense, nervous system regulation, and movement re-education. It offers benefits that go far beyond flexibility — especially for stress, pain, coordination, and long-term embodiment.

Somatic movement and yoga go really well together. If you wish to try it out, join me in my yoga classes in .

I remember very clearly the moment I decided that I want to be a massage therapist.

I was walking down the stairs after my early morning yoga practice and my mind was clear. I didn't know at this point what type of massage I wanted to learn at all, I had no plan, the idea just visited me.

Some time after that I came across Thai yoga massage and was drawn to it. I signed up for an introductory workshop to see what it was like and instantly loved it.

Fast forward seven years, numerous courses and hundreds of treatments given, I am still in love. If anything, my love has grown. Over time, I have come to really appreciate Thai massage's gentle invitation to feel better. I have seen so many times how breathing becomes slower and deeper, how shoulders drop, legs become longer, backs soften, necks relax.

I have also heard the experiences of people who feel calmer and clearer. And I know for myself that often I as a therapist feel better after giving a treatment.

Thai yoga massage creates this cycle of care and connection that continues to inspire me every day. This is the work I fell in love with. Its joy I am grateful to share.

For 2026 I am choosing joy.
Joyful movement. Curiousity. Less doing, more listening.
More on my feet, less on my shoulders.

This year I want movement to feel like celebration.

In the last days of 2025 I am very much looking forward to our next term of yoga classes in Streatham. In January and February the focus will be Winter Wellness: Nourish and Restore.

In this course we will focus on one aspect of winter well-being each week. The series will help us cultivate comfort in our bodies, confidence in our movement, and a sense of calm through the heart of winter.

There may be a space or two free in the Monday evening group and I am also starting a Tuesday morning class, so do get in touch of you want me to save you a place.

Cultivate comfort in your body, confidence in your movement and a sense of calm through the heart of winter.

Massage in the West doesn't often include the belly.

Quite the opposite, In the Eastern traditions the abdomen is maybe the most important part of the body as all energy that flows in us originates here.

Chi Nei Tsang is a treatment that focuses solely on the belly. It can have a profound effect on both our physical and emotional state.

I will be offering Chi Nei Tsang from January 2026.
Grab the opportunity! It's not an easy thing to find in London.
