Some people impact your life in phenomenal ways and this humble, super talented surgeon has done just that for me and so many others. Peter Clarke is the reason I became a head and neck surgeon. I watched him perform a major head and neck resection as his SHO well over 2 decades ago and that was it ! I stayed in touch throughout out my training and subsequently became his RCS post-CCT head and neck fellow. He also talked sense into me to apply for my current consultant job and has already been at the end of the phone for advice or just a chat. He is the definition of inspiring ! A brilliant teacher, mentor, sponsor, supporter and friend. He is quite simply, peerless. As you retire Peter, know that you have left behind an untouchable legacy. I, for my part, will try to keep the torch burning: providing excellent care for our patients, pushing the envelope and sharing what I have learnt from you, especially with colleagues from developing countries. You will be missed but β¦It is time to put your feet up! Most importantly, thank you Ellie (and the rest of the Clarke family) for sharing Peter with us. Happy retirement !!!! π₯ππ€ &Neck
