WHAT NOW? 3 GOOD THINGS!

Managing our stress levels after a uniquely challenging 18 months.

The return to work is on the horizon, and many of us feel anxious, a little disconnected. We may even be feeling a little resentful of our employers.

Covid and lockdown have forced more responsibilities onto everyone, mainly working women with school-aged children and ageing parents who struggle to manage home and work demands. Sheryl Sandberg’s damming research suggests that 25% of women in the US are experiencing physical symptoms of severe anxiety, and the same applies to the UK and Ireland.

Women are carrying a heavier load in keeping their homes running, and they are also experiencing a higher level of stress and burnout.

What can be done?

How to protect your emotional wellbeing and mental health and your career prospects in the new world we are experiencing.

We take a leaf out of Dr Martin Seligman’s playbook of Positive Psychology. We reinforce the pillars of wellbeing.

P – Positive outlook
E – Engagement
R – Positive Relationships
M – Meaning
A – Achievement and
H – Health – physical and emotional

Choose any one of the above and start there—review, every day, how each of the above is showing up. Then, make a stand and incorporate IT if it is lacking.
