Roy Finch, our dedicated maintenance man at Amy Woodgate House, has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Surrey Care Awards in the Unsung Heroes – Making Care Possible category.

Roy joined in November 2023 and has demonstrated incredible dedication, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a difference. One shining example of his creativity and care is the dementia-friendly train he recently designed and built. This thoughtful project allows our residents—especially those living with dementia—to revisit cherished memories of travel, bringing smiles, comfort, and meaningful moments of connection.

We had a wonderful Macmillan Coffee Morning with our residents at the care home — a truly special occasion filled with laughter, chatter, and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and homemade cakes. Today at Amy Woodgate House , residents and nursery children came together for a heartwarming colouring activity. The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and beautiful moments as the children brought colour to the page and the residents shared their stories and skills. 💛
It was more than just an art session — it was a celebration of connection, joy, and precious memories made between young and old. 🧓👧

We had a lovely birthday party for one of our residents. It was heartwarming to see the big smiles on her face when she received her cake and gifts. She gave it a good go blowing out the candles, as you can see! Her face lit up the room with so much joy. 🎂

She had a wonderful time, with both residents and staff singing along to old tunes. It was a truly memorable moment that brought a sense of togetherness to everyone. The music brought comfort and connection, reminding us all of the power of song to lift spirits and create joyful memories. 💜

🎉 Huge shout out to the amazing team at Amy Woodgate House Care Home in !

Ten of our colleagues took part in the 6.5-mile ‘Night to Remember’ walk through on Saturday, raising an impressive £530 for the Kingston Hospital Charity 👟💙

We were honoured to meet the very lovely, Councillor Noel Hadjimichael, Mayor of Kingston upon Thames who obliged us with a photo and thanked us for supporting the cause, and took the time to recognise the incredible work carers, like our do every day.

Home Manager Kristina Jacunskiene said: “Although my feet are aching, I’m thrilled that were able to take part and that we raised a wonderful £530 for such a great cause!”
