In 2013, Enfield Conservatives - supported the start of the bidding for these cycling schemes, with repercussions still inflicted upon us now - almost a decade on.

In the Cycle Enfield document on Mini Holland and the future of cycling in Enfield, there is clearly “FULL SUPPORT” for its entire contents of that bid.
As written by your (now) local Tory Leader, Cllr Laban.

You can clearly see the current leader of the Tory party in Enfield supports “RESIDENTIAL CELLS” which we now know to be LTNs.

Within the bid, it states that 37 residential cells have been identified. Yet she supported the bid that created these nightmares, while telling us all to vote Tory this May.

We would like a direct, public response from the Enfield Tories and Cllr Laban on these matters. Particularly we’re the alleged threat of Labour putting LTNs all over Enfield, is alleged to be in conflict to the Tory support declared previously in writing.

Please will this Cllr pick a lane (perhaps the cycle lane?) and offer some honesty, integrity and inclusion to this group that she has avoided at every possible opportunity (along with the businesses, residents and care homes most affected by these Gov funded schemes.

We are fully aware that your future Tory candidates have also called for road closures with sole access just for them and their fellow residents, while doing a u-turn when realising how unjust that truly is.

Whether the majority here vote Tory or Labour locally, at least going against the Tories will send a ROBUST message all the way up to those who are NOT listening or acting in any meaningful or evidenced accordance with the Equality Act, Public Sector Equality Duty and the Road Traffic Regulations.

Let those pulling the strings blaming solely Labour know that the impact of these top down, unwanted directives and their funding (constantly issued from none other than Boris & Shapps) despite being cash strapped during a pandemic - that these are not welcome in our society.

LTNs and cycling really are not of “life and death” importance - yet Covid-19 hit us causing it to be one of the first priorities (for Tories) as seen shortly after the very first lockdown, written by Shapps in the letters to Authorities in May 2020 (before there was even a plan on how to feed school children)!

What does it look like when former Dept Leader of Enfield Council (largely responsible for the £40m+ cycle lanes) challenges the current (soon to be former?) Dept Leader about his own car usage..

This ANTI CAR, ANTI Equality, Discriminatory decision maker, who provides only reasonable adjustments for those not from protected groups - drives just like us too… Even when there’s a cycle lane between his road & the council Offices!
Not good enough to use apparently.. particularly by Mr LTN himself.

This Cllr without any moral compass, nor any regard for duties of public life - serves only himself and his cycle buddy brigade (who all drive just like he does, yet like Bambos Charalambous MP, have NOTHING to say about it when they do).

- HE’s BIGGER behind a keyboard, BOLSHY on a screen, PROUD with a script, yet SILENT in reality.

Want to get something right Cllr Barnes?

Let disabled, elderly, LGBTQIA people along with victims of violent crimes & abuse complete the Equality Impact Assessment, read it and remove the entire ANTI CAR schemes.

WE have far more acceptable reasons to drive than you’ll ever be able to know/understand.

The battle of democracy and equality rights is only just beginning. Let this be a warning to all LTN decisions and your radical, life destroying schemes.

Permanent traffic orders for LTNs? = WAR ON THE PEOPLE you’ve FAILED TO PROTECT AND INCLUDE when we needed it most.

The resources of ANTI LTN communities in LBE is like nothing we’ve seen before. WILL ALL fight for justice, holding YOU and YOUR COLLEAGUES to account from the very moment you make that decision in your head - to ignore us YET AGAIN.

Some schools get School Streets, while others don’t even have a visible, recognisable or lawfully acceptable signage!

Here in LBE, the safety of a few (lucky) school children matter - while for others - it doesn’t..

JOIN US AGAINST ROAD CLOSURES

Stop Enfield LTNs (STOP Enfield Borough LTNs - Fox Lane, Bowes, Connaught, Edmonton & MORE) have been with you for 10 months, but with lockdowns, we haven’t been able to meet.

Our story so far:

STOP was formed in October 2020 due to two separate local group campaigns for Fox Lane and Bowes LTNs, we knew a united campaign was needed to engage all aggrieved by either scheme, both schemes and even future schemes yet to be implemented.

Our work is all done by volunteers:

•Challenged the council daily with hard evidence covering topics far more deep rooted than just the LTN schemes
•Tackled the myths, misinformation and unrelated/non-locally relevant information from radical groups who have imposed their own agenda upon us all •Grown and supported a dedicated Anti LTN group from 0 to 2100+ in just over 8 months surpassing “Better Streets” in a very short time, proving we are not a minority any longer and our voices/concerns will not evaporate!
•Acquired the information needed to uphold the negligence, infringements of policies/ funding terms and the lawlessness of the schemes - Equality Act, Public Sector Equality Duty, Road Traffic Regulation Act etc – to name a few – which continues to be gathered all day, everyday
•3000+ signature ePetition
•Worked on and shared the information evidence we’ve acquired along with funding of £900 towards a legal letter from the Fox Lane campaign to Enfield Council
•Have multiple cases filed with various agencies, bodies and commissioners
•Set up the PCN patrols – stopping our community driving through chargeable barriers - in just 6 hours with 4 volunteers, we have already saved £2925 for motorists.
•Created the Get Involved page – helping all in the community to take action
•Launched the Community map where the council failed to transparently show the local response to the Fox Lane scheme and attempted to create the same for Bowes
•Secured visits to the area from Shaun bailey (by request in April which resulted in a Bowes meeting) along with Farah London who visited us all twice at both LTN locations with strong interest into the detriments of the schemes
•Objection Surgeries – dedicating time to assist those who wanted to formally object, but didn’t know how to, for an entire week in the lead up to the deadline in May 2021
•Encourage mass completions of Let’s Talk surveys reaching more than the Council intended to reach (as there were no paid activities for them to do so) we spent on reaching the wider community – including and involving many more who were not even aware of the survey
•And lots more still to come – but powder must be kept dry!
