This quick little post serves to highlight that, at times, early postoperative asymmetry (or overcorrection as in this case) might be part of the plan as your surgeon takes into account the moving target that healing brings about.

Sub-brow lift?

Lateral brow support, brow hair, skin type, eyelid crease, bone structure, your objectives, cultural background and more will play a role in deciding if this technique is a viable option for you.

These all ought to be assessed in a oculoplastic clinic room, where social media and its influence is not allowed in. 🤓

Blepharoplasty is widely known as a powerful rejuvenation tool, softening signs of ageing and restoring a fresher appearance.
But just as often, its greatest impact lies in the subtle refinement of a single detail that feels slightly out of harmony.
Sometimes the eyes convey a hint of tiredness, anger, or heaviness that does not reflect how someone truly feels.
With this small, thoughtful adjustment, the natural balance of the face can quietly emerge.
I am always grateful to play a small part in these journeys.

Thank you to & for recognising my work as one of the best aesthetic eye surgery practices in the country.
Our field depends on restraint, artistic vision and detail and demands standards and doing things properly.
I’m pleased that way of working still stands out.

This account started as a marketing tool but soon developed into an educational tool too.
We spend a lot of time during consults describing all the stages of healing and how your eyes will look every week after surgery.
I like posting “in progress” results as it very much helps to make this process easier and less stressful for my future patients.
This way we can spend more time discussing eyelid design and nuances.
The bottom line is this: surgery might be a one day event, healing though takes time and the more prepared one is for it, the faster and easier it will be.
This is what an upper bleph typically looks like at four weeks. Often better, occasionally worse than this. There are visible signs. Helpful?

This case is still healing but we both very much felt like sharing today.
Asymmetric upper blepharoplasty, volume preservation with medial fat pad transposed laterally and brow fat suspension.
Note the little imperfection on the out ends of the incision on the one side.
Such little marks can often remain for several weeks and it’s important for surgeons to warn their patients to expect them as they can give one away. 🤫
This one will have vanished very soon.

Blepharoplasty in “Full-sulcus phenotype” (heavy full eyelids by birth) is not that straightforward.
I find that it involves, beyond skin removal, a fair bit of fat sculpting (roof and orbit fat) as well as various internal suspension sutures which can give a somewhat odd look for the first few weeks.
But all of this is worth it in the end.
Here are some early results from a stunning pair of eyes which were slowly getting lost in excessive heaviness.
The little dimples in the outer corners can take some time to totally fade and it is worth warning our patients about them.
