Compare my Care is an online platform that helps self-funding patients book and buy private treatment with the very best orthopaedic surgeons and private hospitals in London - based on data, not guesswork. Our customers won’t pay more than going direct to hospitals. However, included within our fixed prices (for standard treatment) is our unique 12 month 'Protect my Care' insurance policy. This refunds the cost of surgery to patients if a repeat or revision operation is required. We curate data from hospitals, surgeons, patients, government regulators and registries to inform patients about doctors and private hospitals' performance. And we help people access treatment faster through our knowledgeable concierge team. Our close contacts with doctors means, as well as for London, we can help you find the right consultants beyond the capital and for other specialties. We answer questions such as: ‘How do I know who is the best surgeon for my operation?’, ‘Does the hospital I choose make a difference?’ and, ‘How can I improve my chances of a better surgical outcome?’. Through Compare my Care, discover faster recovery, competitive prices, greater financial protection and better surgical outcomes.

Evidence of a surgeon’s performance is out there. Take Mr Hugh Apthorp at London Bridge Hospital. 63.2% of his hip replacement patients describe the results 6 months post-op as “Excellent”*. However, the average of ‘all other hip replacement surgeons’ achieving “Excellent” is 42.5%. That’s a whopping 20.7 percentage point difference.

In the 1960s, game changing artificial hip joints led to better and more consistent results. Whilst you’d think that 60 years later, this operation would be fairly standard practice, there’s still surprising variation in results achieved by surgeons - making the outcomes anything but standard.

Please rest assured, when describing hip replacement surgery results as “Excellent”, “Very good” and “Good” - all together - Hugh’s patients rate their results as 97.6%. The average of all other hip replacement surgeons is 93%.

But, the question remains, who wouldn’t want ‘Excellent’?

Compare my Care helps self-funding patients find super-specialists like Mr Hugh Apthorp and others in the orthopaedic world in London - based on evidence, not guesswork.

Compare my Care was created to help those needing to fund their own healthcare to choose and find ‘better’ - especially for those waiting for treatment in pain.

Better means: getting back to pain-free living as quickly as possible. Better also means achieving superior results from your surgery - especially given you’re self-paying - something we never expected to have to do.

How do we achieve better? By revealing the surgeons proven to deliver better results. By protecting patients with a money-back insurance, should complications arise and further surgery is needed - at no extra cost.

Why? Because patients deserve better.

Search orthopaedic treatments in private London hospitals or call us if you need treatment further afield, another speciality or a different procedure. We’ll help you find a true specialist. Visit https://www.comparemycare.com/

Since when did self-funding patients who have an unsuccessful surgery receive a full refund? Since today.

If you’re paying for your own surgery and do so through Compare my Care, our Protect my Care refund insurance is included, at no extra cost.

So, if the worst happens and surgery needs repeating within 12 months, you get your money back. Without this insurance, sadly you won’t.

Protect my Care was developed in collaboration with AIG UK.

It’s not surprising that many of us are in awe of surgeons. But the fact is, not all surgeons are the same. Take hip replacement surgery. There’s significant variation in surgeons’ success rates (and revision - redo - rates).

So, what does success or a great ‘outcome’ after hip replacement mean?
1. Faster recovery: back to walking normally after a few weeks
2. Lower pain levels - after surgery and longer term
3. Pain free function of the hip joint and full range of movement
4. A dramatically improved quality of life
5. (Of course, not having a failed surgery requiring a revision)
6. And finally, forgetting you’ve even had a hip replacement

The National Joint Registry reveals surgeons’ hip replacement volumes which, when high, correlates with better outcomes.

comparemycare.com was set up especially to help self-paying patients find the right and best super-specialist orthopaedic surgeons - using facts and data, not guesswork.

With Dry January slowly coming to an end, we want to share with you some of the benefits of minimising drinking for your surgical outcomes.

Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol can:
- prolong hospital stay
- increase the likelihood of surgical complications, such as infections
- increase the likelihood of excessive bleeding

Limiting your alcohol intake can help you avoid these risks, leading to better surgical outcomes and a smoother recovery.
