From Glamour, Gigs & Film Sets to Grace: The Unlikely Origins of LDC Funeral Services
By: Vera Roebuck
In a quiet corner of British life, LDC Funeral Services Ltd operates out of Tufnell Park NW5 with warmth, dignity, and purpose. Founded by Paul, Anne, and Dan Farrell, this independent family-run firm is shaped not just by professional skill, but by the rich and surprising lives its founders lived before funeral care.
Anne Symons, a Sussex University graduate and former beauty therapist with a lifelong love of style and fashion, once found herself at the iconic Viva Glam campaign at the Met in NYC. There, she crossed paths with Boy George, Missy Elliott, Linda Evangelista, Chloë Sevigny, and diversely, Padma Lakshmi and Salman Rushdie. Her keen eye for presentation and grace now shines through in her compassionate support of families.
Paul Farrell, now a calming presence to grieving families, once worked as Tour Manager to Jonathan Rice, and found himself in the press pit at Hyde Park, capturing REM and Patti Smith live. He’d already been PA to Boy George, and worked with Pete Burns. These demanding roles required calm and deep sensitivity — a quality Paul brings to LDC. With nearly two decades as a Listening Samaritan, he’s learned that people don’t always need answers — they just need to be heard.
Dan Farrell began as a runner at Roger Cherrill’s in Dean Street, Soho, later assisting Michael Kahn, Steven Spielberg’s editor. He worked on Empire of the Sun, edited Ian McEwan’s The Children’s Act (dir. Richard Eyre), and appeared in the documentary 'Her Name Was Moviola' alongside Oscar winning Director and Editor Walter Murch. Dan brings a filmmaker’s sense of tone, pacing, and respect to every detail at LDC.
Though once shaped by glamourous parties, airports and film sets, today Anne, Paul and Dan are now grounded in community. Whether promoting a brand, driving a band or cutting a film, they were always listening — and now they do the same in a more meaningful way: honouring lives with care, creativity, and grace.
