✍️ Today, 7th February, is Charles Dickens Day. Many of today’s funeral traditions trace back to the Victorian era Dickens wrote about and saw the rise of undertakers as professionals rather than informal community caretakers 🎩 Some of the traditions we still use today are the funeral procession; formally wearing black; and also the laying of flowers, all of which help families share grief and to honour the life lived.
