San Yoga UK

San Yoga UK Welcome and Namaste! I am Sangeeta, yoga teacher and retreat host. The course was intense learning from 7.30am to 9.30pm daily.

On this page you will find details of my local hatha yoga classes for beginners and improvers and details of upcoming Yoga and Wellness Retreats in the UK and abroad. Practicing yoga has been my driving passion for many years now and becoming a hatha yoga teacher trainer has been an aspiration of mine for the past few years. My vision is to share a yogic lifestyle with a community so they too can explore and experience the tremendous connection of mind-body-breath benefits of this ancient practice which is more than 4000 years old. In mid 2020 following the start of the global COVID-19 crisis I started to think more about a career change and follow what I can only describe as 'a calling' to take my practice of yoga to the next level. In July 2020 I decided to take that big break from a more than 20 year career in a large multi-national pharmaceutical company as a clinical scientist in new medicines development and follow my passion of becoming a yoga teacher. After many months of searching for a reputable yoga teacher training school I contacted a yoga teacher of mine from many years ago, who incidentally first evoked the 'light' of yoga in me! She suggested I search on the Independent Yoga Network website as it is amongst two, the other one being the British Wheel of Yoga, governing bodies in the UK. She stated that any courses/schools that are advertised under either of these two umbrellas will be a recognised and accredited qualification accepted in the UK and Europe. I was looking to hold a qualification that is UK recognised and covered by insurance both here and internationally. I contacted a couple of international yoga teaching schools and the one that grabbed at my heart-mind strings the most was Bodhi Yoga in Spain. Following a video call with Sadhita and Sudaka, the co-founders of the school, I instantly felt connected and had that ‘gut’ feeling that the Bodhi yoga 300hr YTT was the one for me. I enrolled on to the course in October 2020 along with a small group of other aspiring yoga students and after on-line 5-day foundation part of the course, meditation workshops and a couple of upper and lower body yoga weekend workshops I finally arrived in stunning Suryvana on the 1st October 2021 for the residential 2 weeks part of the course. I was struck by the breath-taking beautiful location of the retreat centre amongst the rolling Spanish hills and lush countryside near Valencia. Sudaka and Sadhita’s style is very structured, thorough with a running meditative theme of mindfulness throughout the course. I loved their very considered step by step approach (also referred to as ‘Vinyasa Krama’) in taking us progressively through how to teach 11 main groups of yoga poses. In addition what I found really helpful was the daily posture analysis and the invaluable practice of class-room teaching! The latter in my opinion is fundamental in building your confidence to becoming a good yoga teacher! I am truly grateful to Sadhita and Sudaka for all that I learnt and explored during the almost a year’s duration mix of on-line and residential course. My heart/mind will always closely hold the very fond memories of my time in beautiful Suryvana amongst the loveliest of people I have come across. I hope to return to Suryvana and Bodhiyoga soon for retreats and further learning and even to the Valencia region to follow my vision and hope of setting up my own yoga school somewhere around there in the not too distant future. In the meantime I want to share the benefits of yoga through offering beginners hatha yoga classes to those that would like to explore the many mind and body benefits of yoga within my local community. I am grateful to begin this exciting journey with those who join me🙏

Like a yoga practice, the strength of women is both powerful and graceful, rooted yet always evolving. We bend without breaking, breathe through challenges, and rise again and again.

Today we celebrate the resilience, wisdom, and courage of women everywhere. May we continue to support one another, lift each other higher, and honour the strength that lives within us all.

Happy International Women’s Day 🙏🏽

San Yoga Kerala Retreat | 1–10 October 2026

Book now as selling out fast!

10 Days All Inclusive | Ayurveda & Yoga | Kerala, India
Over 15 years ago I first travelled to Kerala and fell in love with its beauty, warmth and ancient healing traditions.

Now, as I enter the third year of hosting this retreat, it feels even more meaningful — a reflection of my own journey from corporate life into work rooted in presence, service and connection.

Kerala is the birthplace of Yoga and Ayurveda.
And this retreat is designed to immerse you fully in both.
🌿 Your Healing Journey Includes:
• A 1:1 consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor
• A daily personalised programme tailored to your dosha (Vata, Pitta or Kapha)
• Two-hour daily treatments and massages
• Sunrise meditation and rejuvenating morning yoga
• Evening restorative & Yin yoga
• Sunset beach meditation
• Freshly prepared vegetarian Ayurvedic buffet meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner)
• Cooking demonstrations & herbal garden visits
• Cultural dance, music and local experiences

You’ll stay in a serene garden villa at Nattika Beach, surrounded by coconut groves and the Arabian Sea. During free time, you can swim, cycle, rest in hammocks or walk along the peaceful beach.

October is the perfect time to visit Kerala — post-monsoon, the landscape is lush and vibrant, yet the climate is dry and comfortable.

Includes airport transfers from Kochi, full board, yoga, daily treatments and accommodation.

This retreat is about more than relaxation.
It’s about restoring balance, learning sustainable self-care practices, and leaving with a personalised Ayurveda plan you can integrate into daily life.

At the end of these 10 days, you will feel:
Relaxed. Rebalanced. Rejuvenated. Reconnected.

Just over a week ago I was at this stunning beachside yoga retreat in beautiful South Goa, . I was there not only to learn from Ravi, a very experienced and authentic yoga teacher but also to take the time for a reset. 2025 was a whirlwind year, with a lot happening both personally and professionally.

My lovely friend and fellow yoga teacher, was there with me. We were both there for the same reasons- to learn, reset, enjoy taking time out and practice lots of asanas together, even after the morning and evening classes with Ravi! We also made that crucial time for shopping, eating out at the amazing nearby eateries accompanied by a cheeky cocktail or 2 😉

Caroline guided me through this pose, an adaptation of Parsva Bhuja Dandasana, like it was no big deal, step by step, breath by breath. And another learning hit me… great yoga teaching isn’t just about getting into the pose. It’s about making your students feel safe, understood, and guided with awareness. A great teacher helps you explore, adjust, and adapt so the shape fits you, not the other way around.

What are your thoughts - is a good teacher someone who demonstrates perfectly, or someone who knows how to guide you where you are?

Yoga supports wellbeing
Improves mobility, balance & relaxation

But yoga does not replace medical treatment.

Yoga works alongside medical care, not instead of it.
Always ask for your doctor for medical advice.

Beginner Yoga for 2026

Is "starting yoga" still on your to-do list? Let’s make 2026 the year you actually step onto the mat.

Starting something new can feel intimidating, but it shouldn't be. My weekly local classes are designed for absolute beginners as well as those who may have some experience but out of practice.

The goal of my classes is not to have a super flexible, bendy body but more the invitation to improve flexibility, balance, strength of both the mind and body with a regular yoga practice which embraces awareness and mindfulness. and importantly to reclaim some "me time" from a busy day.

In these sessions, we’ll focus on:
--Foundation: Learning the basic poses at a slow, steady pace.
Mobility: Shaking off that holiday stiffness and feeling more at home in your body.
-Stress Relief: Simple breath-work and meditation techniques to stay calm and focused as we head into the new year.

✨ When: Thursday 8th January, 5.45pm to 6.45pm
📍 Where: Hedgerley Memorial Hall, Kiln Ln, Hedgerley, SL2 3UU
Start 2026 by prioritising you. Space is limited to keep the atmosphere cozy and supportive!
