A snippet from our recent everlearning webinar, where we explored common head and neck complications seen in practice.
One frequently encountered head and neck complication is tonsillitis progressing to quinsy. It can present as a red, inflamed, bulging tonsil, sometimes with pus and surrounding soft tissue swelling. Imaging helps determine whether drainage is needed.
A simple quinsy is often treated with incision and drainage, providing rapid pain relief for the patient.
